Sal and I stayed up on the roof until morning came. We had been talking about pretty much anything that came to mind, everything from favorite colors to favorite books, bands, and even our backpacks. Our spines were up against the uncomfortable bricked in wall as the subjects of our discussions shifted back and forth between random things.

Listening to him speak made me happy, his eyes brightened whenever he brought up something that he liked. I learned that he had an interest in playing guitar, but so far he hadn't done anything more than just think about doing that. He also was a bit of a ghost enthusiast, call it a hunch but, I had a feeling that was the case. Then he also mentioned that his favorite hairstyle was of course his signature pigtails; however despite all of that his hair was down at the moment and his scared face was starring directly at me. The knots in his hair were wispy near the ends, here and there a few of this blunette locks would surround his face then retreat; it reminded me of flowing water.

His posture still seemed pretty stiff which I concluded to being nervous about the scars that littered his face. But I didn't mind all the tidbits of reconstructed and scabbed over skin. In fact it intrigued me even more. All the bumps and divots in his carved skin all seemed so delicate yet stronger than most. His very face was like it's own little world, as he spoke I couldn't help but examine the way it moved. Though shit, I hadn't realized I'd been dazed and staring at him.

"(Y/N)?" Sal waved his hand in front of my face to bring me back to the conversation, quickly my eyes fluttered as I re-focused on what was actually being said.

"H-huh..? O-oh sorry Sal just kind of got lost in thought. That being said... Excuse me what- " He nodded and his split top lip curled up into a smiles which just barely allowed his teeth to peak through.

"Yeah I figured that was the case, after-all you were staring at my face and well, I truly don't have any clue why anyone would want to stare at my face much less enjoy seeing it unless they had been distracted... and I was just wondering what you were doing tomorrow-well later today." his soft words trailed off.

"I'm not doing anything later. Not to mention, Sal don't think like that! Honestly, you think your face looks so much worse than it actually is!" His legs moved and his knees hit the pavement allowing him to push himself up. He sighed and shrugged before walking closer the the railing that kept us from the ground far below, with each step his body language seemed to catch onto more words.

"You coming?" I nodded and quickly jumped onto my feet to join him at the railing the stood about a foot from us. Together we sat back down with our legs through the winding metallic structure and once again started up a conversation.

"Thanks for the compliment but I know it's bad anyways..." I sighed not wanting to argue with the blue-boy but it still made me upset that he thought about himself like that.

"Why do you think that?"

"Think what? That I'm ugly?"

"Yeah why do you believe that?"

"Because of what people have called me when they've seen my face..." I elbowed him.

"Well I stand by what I said before! It's truly not as bad as you think it is. Anyways, onto a bit of a lighter subject... What's your favorite animal?"

"Cat, duh, that's an easy one!" I nodded and grinned dorkily.

"What about your least favorite?"

"U-Uh.... Please don't hate me for this but... Dogs... They uh make me very uncomfortable." I gave him a reassuring nudge.

"Don't worry I'm not judging you for that, I'm sure you've got your reasons Sal, we all do." I caught his ears turning pink before he quickly nodded and ended up turning his head towards the horizon that now was lit in a blanket of pastel hues. Our arms ended up resting against the rails looking out past all the trees and neighborhoods that were scattered across the landscape we called Nockville. The area was quite hilly but that didn't stop the sun from rearing it's ugly face into our own.

"It's so peaceful up here... and I actually really enjoy your company (Y/N)" From the corner of my eye I saw the sides of his mouth stretch upwards in a smile.

"Well I really enjoy yours too Sal Fisher hehe." His face turned pink with a little surprise spread across his face, he then turned to my and lightly flicked my shoulder.

"Hey rude! What was that for asshole?" I protested then flicked him back. Quickly i felt his arms around me fluttering up and down my self.. Fuck.. Sal was tickling me!

"H-HEy! S-S-StOp tHAT!" I got a few words in between my obnoxious sputters and cackles.

"No S-SERiouSLY, I-I thiNK I MI-ght p-p-pEE!" his eyes went wide and quickly he stopped.

"Oh ewwww, (Y/N), you didn't have to tell me that."

"Sheesh well if I didn't then It might've actually happened. Sally you're so immature!" he stuck his tongue out causing me to roll my eyes.

"You suck." he growled back at me.

"You swallow!" I made a stupid face at him.

"Screw you!" his arms crossed his chest.

"You would!" I winked making his face turn a bright red."

"Would not (Y/N) thats so fucking gross!"

"Literally!" A airy chuckle came out of his mouth at my final comment.

"Well i guess that makes sense." His hands had moved down to his hips as if he was analyzing the comebacks that ensued from the hijinks.

"So Doctor Sal, do I win this match."

"No, unfortunately I must say it's a draw, or a stalemate if you will." I shrugged.

"Oh well I guess I'll just have to beat you later." He nodded before a strange noise escaped from his mouth.

"Shit...."

"Pffft was that a yawn?" I giggled and he glared towards me.

"Shut up don't make fun of me."

"Oh I could never make fun of you Sally, you're too cute!"

"Ack!" He turned himself around and stood up to make a run for his mask.

"You're embarrassing me (Y/N)!!"

"That's my job! I'm your friend!"

"I really doubt thats in the job description." He got to his mask me following close behind.

"Well if not then it's in there now." He sighed and went to put his mask back on.

"I think we should head back down, if our parent's wake up and see we're gone they'll be really concerned..." I nodded, unfortunately what he said was right, his dad would be concerned and so would my mom. I opened the heavy steel door and kept it open for the pajama-wearing bluenette boy, he followed me through then I locked the door, he made his way back to the elevator keeping it open for me until I got there. Then we began out decent to floor 4.

"So uh, you maybe want to hang out again later?" I shrugged.

"Nahhh.............." I looked towards him his eyes gave me a sad look.

"Ah! Sal no! I was just kidding, of course I do. " I saw his mask raise.

"I know, you should've seen your face though!" I rolled my eyes, the elevator did its whole creaky spiel and let us out.

"I'll see you later Sal." He nodded then we both went to our apartment rooms in silence. After I got In I rushed to my room as quietly as possible, plopped onto my bed, and for once slept without disturbance.
