MARNIE HATES PARTIES.

She hated the loud thumping of the stereo, the distant lazy chatter, the tongue tied teens grinding against each other, the cherry red cups and their shit faced owners. Marnie hated parties, but she especially hated this one, she cursed herself for letting her friend Margo drag her out on a Friday night all the way across town for Brady Morrison's 18th birthday bash. Marnie sat uncomfortably against a fatty brown couch, viciously gnawing at her styrofoam cup filled with nothing but stale coke. The girl felt out of place almost, dressed in a sleazy burgundy dungaree dress paired with her worn out yellow colored leather jacket, her torn fishnet tights and her beaten up steve maddens, underdressed was an over statement. Compared to everyone else Marnie's face was covered with an unimpressed scowl, she had enough and desperately needed to escape this fiery hell.

The back of her head throbbed as she stumbled  through the sea of sweaty teens, her vision quickly failing her, a plethora of neon colors blinding her. She needed air, and fast. Finally!, she huffed as she found her way towards the door, the cold air brushed against her skin, she could finally breathe. Margo wouldn't mind that she left so early, hopefully; Marnie clenched her eyes shut taking slow shallow breaths, her fatigued arms wrapped around her small waist, she stood unmoving in the middle of an empty road, absorbing the cool air, and the daunting silence. Your so lame, Marnie told herself- it rang over and over again in the back of her brain as if the phrase were a broken stereo. Marnie was never one for social interactions, it wasn't like she was shy or anything, Marnie was just a bitch; she hated people and people hated her, so she opted for the comforts of her room.

Prying her eyes open, Marnie was taken aback by the scene around her. They night sky was a purplish and pinkish hue, the stars looked like paint droplets sprayed against the sky, the moon loomed over her unnerving, still. Castle Meyer was undeniably beautiful at night, it was calm and serene, contrary  to what it looked like during the day, compact and ghostly. The lamp posts flickered sporadically above her as she began walking down the narrow road.

Marnie could suddenly feel a burning sensation welling in the back of her neck, her once calm heartbeat was dangerously increasing, the girl's breathing had become quickened and heavy, something felt off; a sense of unease fell over her as she scanned her surroundings suspiciously. She felt as though someone or something was watching her, brushing it off she continued her way down the narrow road that had now become darker. Marnie was contemplating whether or not she should go back to the party when a loud squeal like sound erupted from the distance, the sound was enough to make her jerk her head and make her insides twist violently. A crow was perched upon a light post in the distance, phew, she sighed—unbeknownst to her, the crow had been following her silently ever since she left the party, waiting. She quickened her pace, her house was just a few blocks down, and she could no longer bare the eerie-ness in the atmosphere.

In one swift motion the once unmoving crow zoomed past her, leaving a splatter of whitish-yellowish poop to sit on her shoulder, "Ugh!"she scowled, her face etched with a unique shade of crimson fury. "Fuck you!" Flipping the black bird off, she swiftly removed her leather jacket.

It was just her luck, she was already having the worst night ever, she didn't need a stain on her jacket to make it worse. She felt lightheaded, and for a quick second everything seemed to move slower than usual, the road before her had become longer and wider, and the sky and the moon were nowhere to be found, the only thing insight was a lamp post that seemed to be flickering its last flicker. An unsettling feeling coursed through her body, her insides twisted and turned at the sudden ominous feeling. Somethings off, She thought— And just like that a murder of crows swarmed mercilessly towards her, her body jerked to the ground, the crows had trapped her in a circle of black and red, blood oozed from her skin. Marnie desperate attempts get up and run failed her terribly, there were too many. It happened all to quickly for her to scream or realize that she was being attacked, its not when she can feel her eyes getting heavy and sparks of pain continuously shoot up through her body that she truly realizes she's done for, and that she's going to die. Marnie's eyes slowly began to flutter shut, and slowly a cloud of black began blurring her vision, a haunting silhouette was the last thing she saw before she blacked out.

Marnie Rivera was fucking dead.

well almost.
