The year was sadly coming to an end and my wonderful holiday was going to be over. When Christmas hit I already knew it was the end and then it's back to school. How depressing that is. School again?! The worst thing about this time of year though, was the back to school ads that played on TV which served as a constant reminder that we were nearing the end of relaxation only to be thrown back into the wonderful gates of hell that many envisioned high school to be.

High school wasn't that bad but the ads were terrible and it ruined my holiday mood. Remind me that school is here on the second or on the last day of the holidays but for Pete's sake, not now! How can I relax knowing school will be here soon. I might as well pack my school bag already. Well, on the bright side at least I won't be a freshman anymore. Why am I being optimistic about this? My holiday mood was officially ruined thanks to back to school stationery and school shoe ads.

Today was 25 December and yes, it was Christmas. I had a dress on today with shiny gold sequins scattered all over it. It was lovely and I had a pair of nude coloured heels on to match my outfit as well. The dress was knee length so I made sure to wear a shorts under it and the heels weren't too high. It was wedges so they were comfy. I would kill my feet if I wore stilettos.

I don't really wear dresses or heels for that matter, the only time I do is on special occasions and I time skipped to Christmas which is a special occasion so here we are. I usually just wear Chucks, jeans and a T-shirt. I tended to like printed T's (short for T-shirts) for some reason. I thought they looked nice.

Outside my mom was busy putting up decorations under the carport. She needed help hanging all of the Christmas decorations. We were going to have our Christmas lunch outside since we had summer this time of year. I've never experienced a snowy Christmas, unfortunately. The only time we ever got snow, if you are lucky, was on the mountain. It just never happened here for us.

We had invited our neighbour over to have lunch with us since she often spent her Christmas alone. My mom and her had become friends so much so that she thought of her as her own sister. It was around 1 o'clock when she arrived at our house. Lunch was semi ready. I set the table. I placed all the knives, forks and plates on the table. When I was done I took my seat in the lounge area. I didn't want to be in the kitchen since that place was already overcrowded with my mom making a potato salad and my dad cooking the prawns in the huge fryer.

They often worked together when it came to cooking so I figured I'd best not get in the way. I was looking more forward to dessert than to lunch though. Mom already pre-prepped the trifle the night before. My dad always helped out in the household since he referred to our family as a unit and just like any relationship it was the amount of team work and effort you put in. He believed that working together got the job done faster. I just sat on the couch sighing. Now was the time of boredom. I looked over my shoulder to see our neighbour walk in and she sat down next to me.

Eventually time had gone by and next thing to happen was the photo shoot and by that I mean family photos and stuff. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the whole picture thing. I mean, I can always remember the occasion why do I need to capture it? Better yet, why post it? It's more of a family thing but my mom was on facebook back then and she'd often post and there was no reasoning behind it. It wasn't to brag, I'll tell you that. It was just because she felt like posting but people being people most likely took it the wrong way. I mean, does anyone ever think when they post a picture? I certainly don't.

Perhaps, she was seen as a brag but I know my mom was just doing it for fun. My dad on the other hand wasn't a very social media type of guy. Nope, he almost never responded to people on his social media and when it came to messaging him, he wouldn't even bother to read or he would read the message but he just would never reply. He was more interested in cleaning his car quite frankly. I dazed off into the distance back on the couch once again only to be nudged on my shoulder by our neighbour.

"Hey," she said, "do you mind doing me a favour?" She asked.

"Yeah, sure..." I said, after all I had nothing to do and I couldn't exactly be on my phone since as my dad said today was a no phone day, well, at least until lunch was over. This was our family time as he often emphasized and technology would certainly get in the way. We were supposed to have lunch together, at the same table after all. "what do you need?"

"My phone is going to die soon will you be a sweetie and get my charger while I help your mom with the other stuff?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'll get it for you." I said.

She gave me her keys and I asked my mom if I could go. It beat sitting around and doing nothing so after I got permission I went next door and unlocked her gate and then her door. I was about to go inside when I looked over my shoulder and passed the field on the corner by the wall I saw James, I'm still assuming that's his name with a group of friends talking. They were practically a field away from me and when I looked towards them I witnessed their eyes dart my way as I stood almost forgetting to push the door open.

Okay so this is his hang out, now? I thought to myself as I attempted to pull down my dress. I forgot I went out like this. In a dress. Okay, guess I'll just have to make this quick before more people see me like this. I walked in the house and closed the door. I found her charger by her dressing table as she told me earlier when I said I'll get it. As soon as I got it I made sure to get out of there. I locked the door and the gate again before I looked to where the boys were and great they looked my way again.

I don't know what the heck they were talking about but somehow whenever I came out or walked I'd see them stop talking and looking at me. This kind of gave me the impression that they were talking about me or perhaps they were just looking at me because the dress was kind of short. Well, that was that. It wasn't revealing though, and I did have a shorts on under, but way to make a girl feel like she is naked.

I just pretended that I didn't see them but I'm pretty sure it was too late for that since I had looked in their direction already. I walked on going back to my house. Managing to make it on the lawn I heard a motorbike that sounded like it was quite near to me, revving. When I looked again it rode passed me only to come around again when I got to the gate of the house.

He looked, well, honestly I couldn't tell. He had a helmet on so I didn't know if he was looking at me but his helmet did turn to my direction. Somehow I recognised that bike. It looked like the one from school and it was black too. He revved as he saw me look or I'm assuming he looked at me looking at him. What a show off but I admit, I do like motorbikes I just wouldn't consider driving them.

Mmm, I think I've seen that motorbike before?
