"Daddy, where did Mommy go?" Jessica looked up to her father with sparkling blue eyes and blonde hair almost down to her waist. She was holding her favorite teddy bear that now had about ten places where he needed to be patched up.
Her dad ran a hand down his face and blinked hard a couple of times before meeting Jessica's eyes. He took a deep breath. "Well, you see, God needed an angel to help him out up there and so he thought Mommy was the best choice and he, uh, called her up there to stay with him and help out in Heaven with all the other angels. She didn't have time to say goodbye, but she loves you very much. Okay?" He asked, trying to make up a story about where his wife went. He knew she died. Cancer was a horrible disease. But Jessica didn't know that. She didn't know there was a sickness worse than the flu out there, she didn't know that her mother died the night before. And now it was up to her poor father to deliver the news that her mother wouldn't be able to tuck her in each night anymore and that it would be him going to get manicures with Jessica instead of her mother. And it was him that would have to tell her that her mother died in a few years when she became old enough to figure out what really happened.
(A/N: Hey everyone, I know this is really short and I'm sorry. But I just got this inspiration from a friend of mine who's mom has cancer. Of course she's my age, and is old enough to know what's going on, but I couldn't help but think what it'd be like for a little girl who didn't even know that cancer existed. Anyways, I hoped you at least kinda liked it! And as always, any type of feedback is greatly appreciated!
Until next time,
~Em)
