Adrien's POV:

I dialed Marinett'es number again.

"What do you want?" Marinette huffed on the other line.

"You answered," I smiled.

"Yeah."

"Why have you been ignoring my calls?" I frowned, already knowing the answer.

"I saw you with that girl." Marinette's voice was monotone, hollow.

"I can explain," I sighed.

"Don't bother. It doesn't matter. It's not like we're together or anything. Our assignment is finished so you don't have to hang out with me anymore. I'll see you in school, bye." With that, she hung up.

I waited by the front steps for Marinette to arrive. I knew I'd be late but I wouldn't be able to focus anyways. I saw her arrive and as soon as she saw me, she looked down.

"Marinette, please let me explain," I followed her up the steps.

"I don't care what you have to say, Adrien." She stopped and faced me, "You lied to me. You said you liked me, then you went on a date with another girl."

"I don't get why you're so upset, Marinette. You rejected me! Am I supposed to pine after you for the rest of my life?"

"No, but you're not supposed to go on a date the same day," She huffed, crossing her arms.

"My dad told me to. It was a PR stunt to get the Agreste name in the tabloids. I like you, Marinette. I don't want anyone but you. I don't care if you're not famous. That doesn't matter to me. You of all people should know that." I stepped closer to her.

She dropped her arms to her sides, "Why do you even like me, Adrien? There are so many other girls at our school who are better for you than me, like Chloe."

"They don't see me the way you do. The only see my fame and my appearance. You see the real me, you understand me. You like me for so much more than what's on the outside. You're like my best friend, no offense to Nino," I chuckled, "No one is better for me than you."

She bit her lip, "Adrien ... we're so late for class, can we talk about this at lunch?"

I laughed, "Yeah. Okay. See you at lunch."

She smiled and headed for class. I watched as she walked away, hoping by the end of lunch, she'd be mine.
