Jessie turned from the stove to the fridge and almost ran right into Chibs, who had just walked into the kitchen. His hair was still wet from the shower and she admired the fact that he was shirtless. Of course, that was because she was wearing his shirt from the night before. He chuckled and wrapped an arm around her waist, reeling her into him. She smiled up at him as he pulled her into a hug, letting his hands rest on her behind.

"Why isn' this fine arse in bed where I left it?"

Jessie leaned up to kiss him before patting him on the chest. "I thought you might like some breakfast before starting your day. There's coffee or hot water for tea, whichever you prefer."

Chibs reluctantly let go of her and walked the few steps to the coffee pot, frowning slightly. "I dinnae think ye liked coffee, luv."

Jessie wrinkled her nose and shook her head as she pulled the carton of eggs from the fridge. "I don't, but I always make sure I have some for the girls when they're over. And you now, I suppose. How do you like your eggs?"

Chibs stirred his coffee before taking a sip. "Over easy's fine, mo aon. What do ye have planned for the day?"

Jessie cracked an egg into the skillet and grabbed a plate before answering him. "Well, let's see. I need to make a potion for Chief Unser's nausea." She frowned as she watched the egg fry in the skillet. "I can only imagine it's terrible with the chemo treatments. After that, Luce and I are going into Lodi to an antique store to look for some things for the shop before stopping at a home improvement store for paint samples. Then, I have to meet my distributor in Oakland and finalize my weed shipment."

Chibs nodded, thinking that if she kept up this pace, she'd likely wind up sick herself before the store was even open. "Speakin' of your weed guy. Who is it?"

He knew something was up when she turned back to the stove quickly, avoiding eye contact. His old lady may not outright lie, but she wasn't above stretching the truth if she could. "Oh, nobody you know, I'm sure. Do you want toast?"

Chibs grinned as he turned her toward him and wrapped a hand around and under her chin to make her look him in the eye. "Wha' I wan', mo aon, is an answer to my question. Who's yer weed guy?"

Jessie bit her lip for a moment before sighing. "You're not going to like the answer. At least, Evie says that you won't, but honestly, he's a very nice man and... "

Chibs shook his head and leaned down to kiss her lightly, ending her sentence. "I need a name, Jess."

Jessie sighed again. "Marcus."

Chibs closed his eyes. "Marcus who?"

"Alvarez. Marcus Alvarez."

Chibs shook his head and sighed before letting her go and stepping back. She turned to the stove and plated his eggs before handing him the plate and starting her own. He walked over and sat down at the table and stared at his plate for a moment before looking over at her.

"Shite, Jess. I dinnae s'pose I can talk ye into usin' one of Juice's guys?"

Jessie sighed as she quickly scrambled her eggs and joined him at the table. "I like Marcus, Filip. He's a good man."

Chibs snorted and shook his head. "Aye, I s'pose he is at tha'. As good a man as I am, which is to say, no' at all."

Jessie sighed and gave him a look over her teacup. "I'll never understand why you guys think that you're bad men."

Chibs gave her a look. "Because we've done bad shite, darlin."

Jessie shrugged as she picked at her eggs. "And you've done good things. It's all about balance, m 'anam. Do you think I'd be with you if you were a bad man? Of course, not. None of you are bad men as long as you love something, put someone else before yourself." She shook her head. "No, you aren't bad men, and neither is Marcus."

Chibs stared at her for a moment in shock before leaning closer. "Wha' did ye just call me?"

Jessie grinned. "You know perfectly well what I called you, Filip." Chibs grinned slyly as he stood up and abruptly pulled her up out of her chair. "What are you doing?"

Chibs pulled her along behind him as he marched down the hall. "Goin' back to bed, mo aon."

Juice stared at Chibs before shaking his head. "She wouldn't budge?"

Chibs shook his head as he inhaled on his cigarette. He exhaled the smoke before answering. "Nah, she likes him, says he's a good man."

Tig shook his head as Happy shrugged. "Look at it this way, if he's dealing with her, he probably likes her. That means more protection for her when we aren't around. That's not a bad thing, man."

Chibs sighed and nodded. "Aye, I know tha'. It's jus'... I love her. I dinnae wan' anything to happen to her."

Tig snickered and shook his head again as Chibs shot him a look. "You guys are dropping like flies. I mean, first Ope, then Hap, now you... look all I'm saying is that she isn't stupid. She's lived all of her life without us crawling up her ass. Give her some space to move around, brother."

Happy shook his head. "Just wait until it happens to you." He turned to a smirking Juice. "And you. You two won't think it's so funny then."

Tig shook his head as Juice scoffed. "Nah, man. That shit ain't happening to me. I'm too set in my bachelor ways for that to happen."
