Mal jumped up when she heard a lot of noises at once: the library door opened, heels came closer, someone panted and tried to follow the person in heels, and Mal dropped her book. She looked at the door and sighed in relief. It was Evie. Mal frowned when she saw Doug, who was covered in sweat, behind Evie.

"M, what's the emergency? Where are the boys?" Evie asked quickly. She sat down next to Mal at the large table.

Mal wiped her tears. "I texted the boys, but they have PE. They probably haven't read the message yet, " she informed calmly.

Evie frowned. "What's wrong?" She put her hand on Mal's.

Mal shook her head. "Never mind. I'll tell when the boys arrive, they need to hear this too. And by the way, how did you read my message? You should be in chemistry!" Mal's eyes fell on Doug. She nonchalantly raised an eyebrow. "And what is the dork doing here?"

Doug sat down next to Evie. He tried to ignore the fact that Evie's friends, except for Carlos, call him "dork", "nerd", or "band-geek".

Evie crossed her arms when Mal insulted her boyfriend. "Doug ran after me when Mr. Deley and Chad blamed me for something I never ever did! Mr. Deley yelled at me and told me to leave, so I did. I thought that Doug here, as my boyfriend, would defend me, but it looks like I was wrong." Evie ended her story with a voice full of blame.

Doug sighed. "Evie, I am so, so-"

"So you left her on her own again?" Mak asked coldly.

Doug nodded sadly. "Yes, and I fully regret that. But Mr. Deley didn't act normal today, just like Chad! Right, Evie?" Evie nodded agreeing.

Mal listened intrigued. "Go on, " she encouraged.

"Mr. Deley was full of rage when he saw Chad wasn't on his seat. A few seconds later, Chad came in and blamed Evie for being too late. He said she threatened him and Mr. Deley believed him. When Evie made a remark about their eyes, Mr. Deley yelled at her and sent her away. I packed my stuff and followed her. She got a message and now we're here, " Doug explained sadly.

Mal nodded, thinking about all the information she gained. "What was that about their eyes, Evie?" she asked.

"Well, I saw the same in both Chad and Mr. Deley's eyes: a strange blue, " Evie said.

"Was it shiny? Black on the edge and bluer than your hair?" Evie nodded at every question Mal asked her. She sighed in relief. It definitely was a spell, that's why Ben was so mean to her!

Mal jumped when Evie broke her from her thoughts. "Why do you ask? Have you seen somebody with the same symptoms?" she asked like she was paranoid.

Mal chuckled at her. "Evie, calm down, it's not a zombie apocalypse!" She sighed. "And to answer your question: yes."

Doug leaned closer to the girls. "Who?" he whispered.

Mal sighed and looked at her hands. "Ben."

Evie and Doug's eyes widened in shock. "Ben?!"

Mal nodded looking down. Her eyes fell on the book she dropped a few minutes ago. She picked it up and laid it in front of her. "I found this in the section: 'Mythical Spells and Curses through the History of Auradon'. It's called: 'The Spell of All Evil', so it might be useful."

Doug looked at it. "Can I...?" Mal looked at Evie for her approval to let Doug check out the book. Evie nodded. Mal sighed reluctantly and handed Doug the book. He took it. "Thank you."

He looked through a few pages until he loudly dropped the book. It wasn't because of his clumsiness (this time), but because of the pain that shot through Doug's head. He grabbed his head and flinched.

"Doug! Are you okay?" Evie asked concerned. She looked at Mal, who shrugged nervously. She was a fairy, not a nurse!

Doug collapsed onto the ground. He looked like he had an epileptic seizure. He struggled for a few more seconds like a fish on the land. After that, he closed his eyes.

Evie kneeled next to him. "Doug?" She put her hand on his cheek and repeated his name for a while. She brought her ear against his chest, then to his mouth.

Mal sat on Doug's other side. "And?" she asked impatiently.

Evie nodded and looked back at Mal. "He's breathing, just unconscious. But what was that?"

Mal blinked while thinking and searching for words. "I... I don't know... Does he have epilepsy?"

Evie firmly shook her head. "No, I'm sure of that." She sighed. "We should better bring him to the nu-"

Evie was cut off by a cough. It was Doug. He slowly opened his eyes and looked in between the two girls as if nothing happened.

A smile began to grow on Evie's face. She hugged him carefully. He frowned and hugged her back. Why am I hugging her?

Mal noticed Doug's strange look. "What's wrong?"

Doug harshly let go and stood up. He tapped some dust off of his shoulder. "Nothing, I'm good."

Evie frowned. "Are you sure you're alright?" she asked worriedly.

Doug looked at her and scoffed. "I think I said I'm good. Or is Princess deaf?"

Evie opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. She reached for one of Doug's hands. "Doug..."

Doug firmly grabbed her wrist. "I do not want anything to do with you anymore, " he dryly said. His voice sounded threatening and just not like Doug at all.

Evie looked in his eyes. That was all she could do before tears escaped. She took her backpack and stormed away.

Mal reached for her, but failed. "Evie!" she tried. She turned to Doug with a look that would even Maleficent jealous. "I will get you soon, Dwarf-boy!" She pointed threatening at him before grabbing her backpack. She ran after Evie.

Doug shook his head and smirked. "Girls..." His mischief smirk turned into an evil grin when he spotted the book Mal found, which laid on the ground he laid a few minutes ago. "She is going to be SO happy with this!" he shouted before he took his backpack and left the library, followed by a bunch of laughter.

A/N: Do not take me wrong because of the title of this chapter! I love nerds, nerds are my type, I'm kind of a nerd myself, so... Anyway, the title is inspired by an episode of "Victorious" where Robbie gets a new gadget he bought in his face. Love that show! See you next time!
