The Letter

" I have a letter for Mr. Iris? A Mr. Renan Iris!"
I stopped after hearing my name and looked around.

At this time it was just only two or three days after Elizabeth's and my night's out and I wasn't expecting a letter at all since all i had for family was already with me. So there must be some mistake. Maybe?

I ended up approaching a tall young man that was yelling my name behind an old mailbox.

"Yes. Sir. That is me." I called out as I got up to the man.

" oh! Good afternoon Mr. Iris. I bring you a lovely letter from a friend back in you home town."
The man passed me the rolled up letter with a light green bow around it. And i started to slip the bow off and un scroll the letter to look at it.

" I see..." I said as I was more curious about the letter then what he was saying to me.

I bet i won't have to describe the writing to you since you have seen her write on all those sticky notes that she keeps around her sewing room now a days. So she will remember whether one pair of pants needs to be sewed back up or a shirt need extra material to make it bigger.

...either way. The letter was from Marie. Marie Lilly Lin Hicks. Her writing still as smooth as I remembered and a beautiful as it still is now.

As you know she was my first love. A young dark haired woman, came from a fairly wealthy family in the United Kingdom. She was very humble and an independent woman, keeping a sense of style throughout her days. Marie and I were only a thing for a little while years prior to meeting Elizabeth, being a sweet but short relationship. As we both had our own paths and plans for the future and our home towns were definitely a ways apart, we went our own ways and promised to keep in touch every so often.

Absolutely we got busy because it has been years at this time since we last talked but i was hoping this letter was gonna be a happy little Marie letter with 'How have you been?' Or maybe ' i'd love to visit in person some time' but it was not.

The letter was way more important than that.

Yes i know, i find it crazy too that i still have this damn letter but it's important to me. Especially when it meant it was a time of an eternity long friendship.

Dear. Renan Iris

Hi my dear, it's been ages since we have heard from each other.

I have heard that you have made your way into being a Doctor in these dark times now and im writing to you to ask for an urgent favor..

The illness has made it up to my hometown, making everyone drop like flies. And with my luck, my husband has fallen ill and is suffering from the early stages of it...

I am packing our things and heading your way. I don't trust these doctors here they do not know what they are doing, but I trust you. Please meet me at the north shores of france. I will wait for your arrival.

I beg of you, do this for me, you come and save my husband. He's the only thing I have left here and i'm not gonna lose him.

Take care,

Marie

Earlier stages.. Shit!
