It was nice to see home again. Mind you it was just myself and i was only there at our farm for about half and hour. Just hours prior to this i got to the town, it has definitely gotten worse since ive been gone and i almost have gotten stop by many that knew me to try to get me to help. Unfortunately i could not do that i was just half way to my final destination. Up north to the shore of France.
I was quick about things and let myself into the house. I packed myself some food for the trip and extra for Marie and her husband. I also make sure I had enough bandages and medical supplies I would need and some drinking water to survive the trip. Not to mention i threw on my old black doctors cloak and put on my wide brim black hat.
It was time to go.
Grabbed the now more polished wooden cane I got when I first talked with Dave and locked the door behind me. I took a big breath in... and out and headout to the horse barn.
Picking up Bloom's custom made leather saddle i brought it over to her. I gave her a soft patt and nose nozzle before putting the saddle on her and set up my stuff to carry with us. Across the other side of the barn i walked over to get a rope and Elizabeth's horse named Charm. Another clydesdale but a shade of brown. She would always say he was such a charmer, with his goofy looks and that he could probably get any horse to love in love with him. He was a goofy guy but well mannered like Bloom.
I set him up with a saddle and the rope wrapped and knotted to attach it as a lead. Leading him over to Bloom and attaching it onto her saddle where I could keep a watch on it.
This my friend is a two horse one man ride. If i was bringing two extra people back i wasn't Gonna do it with one horse. She would be so worn out by the time we got home.
After making sure everything was situated, I climbed up on Bloom and got adjusted. Tipping my hat down to block the sun from my eyes and my feet through the stirrups i decided to tie on the light green ribbon on my left wrist.
And with a turn and the opening sound of the gate, it began. The long trip to the Shoreline up north.
______________________________________It wasn't Easy but i knew it wouldn't be. Hot days, sometimes with no trees, the two horses and myself there were many times where we needed to stop for water. I tried not to drink much since i was afraid of wasting the only clean water I had but I did manage to find myself drinking half of the supply despite my efforts of not drink it. But we did manage to make go timing through the trip even though the multiple rests we took and I was able to get to the border of the north in over two and a half days of riding.
The border was up on this side of France. Between the waters of The United Kingdom and here, it was closed off from anyone entering just after Fance got their first wave of the plague. This was to prevent others from different places getting in and making it worse. And this is what i had to get through first before i could get Marie and her Husband through.
I'm gonna tell you now. Big men, with weapons guarded that border day and night. They were not easy to negotiate with...
They were more do then say and i was the complete opposite from this. so when I got there I stayed a decent distance away so I could stop and tie the horses to a cooler more shaded and not so dangerous area.not to mention this also gave me some time to muster up the courage to go over there at all. I wasn't sure what was going to happen.
But of course i went. I wouldn't have known them know like I do now if i didn't go at all and just sat there drinking fine wine at the quarantine town I was at. I took my cane and bag with supplies and tilted my hat down again as I started walking up to the border quietly, trying to not get seeked out. I walked myself up right up there after a deep exhale out and tried to pass and quietly jumped over the fence.
" Hey!"
"Hey you! You can't cross there." One of the guards spotted me and started to make their way over angrily.
I got a little startled but continued to try to climb the wired fence.
" You twing! Get down from there! This border is closed. You can't pass here." The man growled and barked at me before grabbing me by the leg and shirt and ripping me down.
"Ok ok! " i said startled while shoving the hands off me.
" I know sir but i must get to family that is past the fence".
" No can do,this is a restricted area. You think you can just climb the fence and get away with it!?"
" N.no i guess not but please i must go see them and bring them in!" I ended up shouting back at him, only just making other guards notice my presence.
"You don't have the authority for this twig. Now go on! We don't have time for your.."
I'm a doctor sir ! Please let me through! " I interrupted with a plea.
" There is a wife with a fucking dieing husband out there. Are you men just that blind!? If you just so think you can just stand here and let them suffer. Shame on you all!!" I spatted at the guard getting into his face.
" That could be you! Better yet it will be all of us maybe... gah!" I remember getting winded out with a good slam in the chest and falling forward.
I managed to get some sympathy from one guard and he seemed to step to the plate momentarily after i fell. Through coughing and trying to catch my breath I could hear the two guards conversation.
" Pst! Haha! A doctor!? All you do is kill off the weak! You don't cure anything. Even if i let you through to save your "family" they wouldn't survive. That's just foolish that you think that.," the guard laughed followed by a foul spit shot straight down on me.
" Oh knock it off Russel! Hes right. There's a couple just in my sights through the gate."
" When you figure this out genius?" the guard that knocked me down named Russel asked sarcastically and laughed.
" This morning. I heard a woman's cry by the trees just on the other side. When i look and she was cradling a man's upper body".the other guard explained while i was managing to get up.
" Her name is Marie. She is an old friend of mine and her husband is dying. If you don't open that damn gate, so help me i will make sure you will go to hell for every sin you make living this life!"
" Strong words fellow for the size of you.but that's not gonna scare me away." Russel continued to refuse. " at this rate, you are already gonna go burn in hell."
And just like that i felt like i snapped, in one motion I managed to swing over the cane and bashed the side of Russells head. Follow with a kick in the back of the knees resulting in him going face first into the ground. The rest of the guards stepped back and were quiet and i looked up from Russel to the other guard of a moment and said.
" Im not asking you to open the gate. I'm telling you to now. Or ill make sure you all don't go home to your families!" I hissed without thinking.
Suddenly i felt the ground underneath me move and I knew it was time to run. I slipped passed the other guard and ran . I was now being chased by four angry guards men.
I managed to keep a good distance ahead of their dangerous grasps and found an opening in the fence that was not fixed yet. So I swung my bag and cane over the fence and slipped through without a trance,Leaving the guards behind.
It was a close on i used to think. I would of been there punching bag if I didn't find that hole in the fence.
Thank god i did.
