When I was finally able to see again, I realized where I was.
I'm under the floor. What demon is this? All of a sudden I heard loud thuds up above.
"Mom?" I whispered, as quietly as possible. The thudding suddenly stopped.
"Octavia?" I heard Bellamy walk around some more before lifting the lid and pulling me out of the floor.
"What were you doing in there? There wasn't an inspection."
"I don't know why I was in there." I said. I don't even know why I'm here.
"Hey, O! There is a dance, a masquerade, coming up. It would be the perfect opportunity to go see the ark!"
I swallowed deeply. I didn't kill my mom. Why would I have to redeem myself?
"I don't think it's such a good idea. What if there is a solar flare or some kind of accident? It's too risky, Bellamy." Bellamy looked extremely confused.
"I thought you've always wanted to see the ark?"
"I do, but this doesn't feel like the right time." Bellamy quit trying to convince her and left for his guard duties.
My mom walked over. "Good choice, Octavia. If you said this 130 years ago, I would still be alive."
I whipped my head around to see my mom in the airlock. I fell down, screaming and crying.
"What the hell do you want!?" I wasn't yelling at any one person or thing, but I got an answer.
The same bright light that took me out of Gabriel's camp grabbed me and took me back into the ark, this time I was conscious. As suddenly as I was on the ark, I was on the dropship.
Damn it. This trip down memory lane needs to end.
