I don't remember much from my childhood. I only really remember small specks of it; mum and dad taking me to the park, me helping my little sister learn how to ride a skateboard, and then some earlier ones like riding bikes and helping dad work on his car.
But once the accident happened, I woke up in the hospital with bruises all over my body. A lady in a black pinstripe business suit came in, a solemn look on her face. I had asked about where I was, why I was there, and where my family was.
I got the total truth. My mum, dad, and little sister had died in a fire. A fire that I had miraculously survived. They had suspected me of starting it, but days later we all learned that it was an electrical fire. Faulty wiring or something.
I was placed into a foster home with a nice family, but they weren't my family. The blue room I slept in wasn't my old pasty white room, no matter the colour. The parents were so lenient, not like my old, more stricter parents. They let me explore the woods behind their house.
That was their first mistake.
I remembered little about the supernatural, but I had enough natural instinct to know when to run and when not to. Like when you come across a small graveyard and hands start to sprout out of the ground.
You see, I wasn't exactly the kid that believed in the supernatural. All those horror movies that I remembered watching didn't give me the creeps. I didn't believe in the monster in my closet or under my bed.
But seeing decaying people sprout out of the ground can change your view on things. I ended up running away, and straight into a burly man in a black cloak, chanting in what seemed to be Latin, but it also seemed to be an older version of it.
Him plus the zombies equaled necromancer. He had stopped, and so did the zombies.I had learned that from my video games. He stared at me blankly, his eyes a grey colour, like he was blind.
The air around me had grown cold, and a rain began to pour, just intensifying the coldness. He grabbed me from by collar and whispered,"Time to begin."His accent seemed to be Greek, but I wasn't entirely sure. I was only twelve for crying out loud. And for what to begin?
He put me back on the mushy ground, my hair flapping in the strong wind. His robes did the same, but they emitted off a blue mist, like Hollywood special effects.
But this wasn't just a video game or some B-rated scary movie.
And what he did next didn't just change my view on things, he changed the world's view on me, and changed me-- for better or worse, I'm not sure.
I'm Alistair Sutton, and this is my story.
