Adam walked into the living room with a sigh. Tyler was busy as always, playing Minecraft with Kyle. It felt like thats all he ever cared about; playing minecraft, avoiding all his responsibilities, and Kyle.
Adam had grown to hate the name, hating how that man had the ability to take away his Tyler. His boyfriend. But being the man he was, Adam always said nothing. he let their relationship prosper and his jealousy fester into a boiling jealousy that was getting harder and harder to control each day.
Today would be different. Today was their anniversary, it had been one year since they first decided to make their relationship official. The social media sites had gone wild, and the resulting support clouded the hate. But even that couldn’t hide the deep feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach. What if Tyler didn’t remember?
His dread slipped away as he received a text from his boyfriend.
“Hey Adam, can you come in here please? I have something very important to tell you.”
Adam’s heart jumped. He had remembered! Of course he had, and now he would apologize for his neglect. That is what would happen, right?
He walked into Tyler’s recording room and saw that Tyler was in a skype call with Kyle. After a couple seconds, he cleared his throat. “Tyler? You wanted to tell me something?”
Tyler visibly stiffened and then turned around, taking off his headphones. “Yeah… its about us. and what's gonna happen in the future.”
Adam looked confused. Was he going to propose?! After ignoring him almost every day for the past two months?!
“I’m sorry Adam. But I have to end it with you. I… I don’t love you anymore. I love Kyle.”
Seconds passed and silence filled the room. Oh. Adam thought to himself, tears threatening to spill. That’s what he wanted to say. No proposal. No apology. He stood up straight and wiped his eyes. “It’s ok Tyler. I was planning on talking to you about splitting up anyways.” No, i was planning on talking to him on how to help our relationship.
“You were? Wow that makes me feel a lot better now actually. No hard feelings?” Tyler said with a smile. Oh that smile… the one that had hooked him the day they had first met.
“Mmhm. No hard feelings.” Adam managed out, voice shaky. He turned and left before Tyler could see him cry, and he could hear Tyler telling Kyle how it went.
“Oh yeah it went great. I’m glad I cut it off now, didnt know how much longer I could make that joke go on.
