A stream of flames sprayed towards the ground, aiming at the prince. The prince avoided it, his left shoulder exposed through his shining iron armor. Smoke strings rose from his singed protection as he thrusted his mighty great sword into the enormous dragon. His steel blade pierced through the dragon's right arm, pushing out jovial blood.

The dragon screeched, the pain causing an immediate reaction. The dragon pushed away from the sword, and exhaled a mighty roar, spitting out even more flames with the unusual twisted intent to kill. The winged fiend's convivial eyes stared at the prince as he yet again managed to scuffle past the ray of deadly heat.

With a powerful grunt, the prince valiantly shoved his sword into the dragon's neck. The flames dispersed, leaving a quiet, pitiful squeal behind. The prince grasped the steel handle with both hands, and with his last bit of strength, swerved the blade across the neck of the dragon. The dragon fell to the ground, blood oozing out of every cut and bruise left by the prince. The prince had fought valiantly, and defeated the dragon. He proudly marched off, towards the kingdom he had defended, to return to the princess he had protected.

Moments later, from under a rock, the princess revealed herself. She ran up to the dragon, and fell to her knees in front of it. She softly placed her hands on it's rough, bloody face, and cried out in despair. Her screams of sorrow poured over the deceased beast's calm face, and waterfalls of sadness exited her eyes.

The princess loved that dragon.
