You can believe, or you can be skeptical.
If being skeptical is the path you decide on, not believing anything without hard evidence, doubting anything with proof shoved down your throat. It says a lot about who you are.
If a murder happens and the perpetrator is accused rightfully, you doubt it. You make people change their minds, sway them from delivering the revenge that bludgeoned corpse deserves. Your driving that candlestick even deeper into that dead person's soul.
You may think being suspicious of someone or something is natural, but that's called being perceptive. Doubting everything isn't the same. If you opened your eyes and ears to the event taking place, you'd know exactly what happened. You'd know who killed your wife, if you were perceptive instead of skeptical.
Instead, you got someone wrongfully put in jail, and saved my ass.
