The sky was a pearl gray color, light blue complexion, but somewhat dead. Like all the life had been sapped out of it and consumed by the evil force known as depression.

A figure, a young woman, approaches the end of the long open field of rough dry grass, and stands on a hill with a beautiful view of a world that once encompassed her. Her brown hair messy and blowing with the wind. As her hair blows, separate strands split apart, and reach out into the air for life, for anything other than the stabbing pain of shattered dreams. For shelter from the agonizing longing for another living creature.

Trees spiral up on the path of her future, and she stops, standing still and peering around, not knowing where to go. As her pain and longing for attention died down, reality bashed her skull in, and she realized that she was lost. She felt her eyes slowly droop and sag on her face, and felt the weight of acceptance take its toll on her eyes. And with one final shaky breath, the carbon dioxide she released mutated into a frozen white coloration, and warm tears swam down her face, flopping like a fish thrown out of its river. She was alone, no other human left.

With anxiety as strong as the seas are stormy, she quivered, for the thought of no other living creature existing began to suffocate her human psyche. As she began to crumble down to her knees, she heard soft crunching take place behind her, and with twenty seconds of courage, she shakily twisted her torso around to get view behind her, only to see a sight most astonishing. A dog, one of pure snow white fur, stood there, their long sleek body just tall enough to meet her forehead with it's face. The angelic canine waltzed towards her, it's movements as heavenly as the color it bore, and gracefully collapsed into her lap, allowing its fur to comfort her spirit.

With a sigh of relief, she shakily stood up, slightly twitching every so often with crippling depression. The dog began to walk away from the cliff, it's angelic movements mesmerizing to the naked eye, and she was drawn into the sight, following the exquisite canine down from the cliff of pebbles and rock, away from the beautiful view of the trees and sky.

The dog walked over overgrown grass, but this grass was deprived of any essence, appearing as an orangish-brown color against the dark brown mud. However, despite the slightly stinging edges of these united needled-grass blades, she continues to follow the dog. Her bare feet developed small cuts from the plants, but the dog looked as if it had just exited a pool of cleansing liquid, for it walked through the grass unblemished. She stumbled and staggered every so often as they trekked through the field of strangely colored grass, but eventually they approached the edge.

They were met with ashy ground, the dog didn't pass the border of stinging grass, not daring to place it's divine paws on the other side. She was uneasy, but before she could take another step, another mammal approached from beyond the ash gray terrain, another dog. This dog was very different, it's movements were animated, almost mechanical, and as it approached it caused more and more uneasiness to grow within her stomach. It stood close at the edge of the border, not daring to step into the neutral grounds of grass. However, it looked her in the eyes, it's black fur and almost maroon eyes seeming to judge her, to figure out if she belonged on the other side or not.

The dog's eyes seemed to swirl, and within seconds the girl's vision went blurry. Everything was in circles, and she began to take a step forward, towards the other side. The divine feline noticed this almost immediately, and stood up, seeming to grow in size, buffing up only slightly more than before. The dog's mouth opened, and a powerful bark emerged, blasting across the line and pushing the demonic canine far away from the border, causing the girl to stumble back into the grass, not a trace of gray ash on her.

She looked up, confused and scared, even more so than before she met the canine, and once she locked eyes with the immaculate creature, words jumped into her mind, and soothed her soul. However, no voice accompanied these words on their way to her mind, and with that, that one alluring word came.

"Follow."

She furrowed her eyebrows as more words etched their way into her brain.

"Follow me."

Her eyes widened, and after moments of absolute silence, a breeze blew by, and she smiled, accepting the divine offer. She stood up and followed the angelic dog, far away from the ashy terrain, and far across the neutral terrain, to a place much more sought after.
