''Oh my god!'' Caroline burst out randomly at lunch towards me.
''What?''
''Cheerleading!'' She continued to burst out.
I gave her a confused look and shrugged my shoulders. ''Come again?''
"Bonnie, Elena and I have cheerleading practice after school! You have to come. I'm captain and if you can catch on then there may be a set of pom-poms with your name on them!''
I was speechless. ''I don't know Caroline. I've never done anything like that before.'' I looked down knowing that I would be one of the best due to my quick reflexes, speed and strength. The reason I was hesitating was that I was afraid I would slip up.
''Oh you'll be great! And if your not then well you won't be on the team.'' She shrugged. ''But it wn't hurt to try.''
I sighed. Maybe it would be fun. Plus I knew that Caroline wasn't going to let me out of this. ''Alright. I'll do it.'' As I said it, she started to bounce up and down squeaking. Oh no wonder she was a cheerleader. And I was about to become one. Oh joy.
Through-out the day, Elena kept bugging Stefan to join the football team. He always refused. Should I have done that to Caroline?
It was Social Studies. The class I had with Elena, Stefan and Bonnie. Instead of sitting away from them like I did yesterday, I moved to sit next to Stefan and behind Elena. She turned back and smiled at me. Stefan did the same. Once class started, Mr. Tanner started to shoot events at us and tried to see who knew the dates. I could tell just by the way he taught that he was an ass.
Elena leaned over to Stefan. ''FYI. Our team sucks. We could use you.'' She whispered.
''I can't'' Stefan answered. ''I'm a loner.'' She cracked a smile and laughed.
''Miss Gilbert?''
She turned towards the teacher. ''Hm?''
''Pearl Harbor?'' Tanner asked.
Elena opened her mouth to answer but all that came out was. ''Um..''
''December 7, 1941.'' I looked over at Stefan. We said it at the same exact time.
''Thank you. Miss Gilbert and Miss Gilbert!'' Mr. Tanner said like the Jack-ass he is.
''Anytime.'' Stefan answered
''Very well, The fall of the Berlin wall?''
''1989'' This time Stefan answered before I could. ''I'm good with dates, sir.''
''Are you?'' I knew this was going to be a epic battle of intelligence between the two of them. I wanted in. ''Civil rights act?''
''1964'' I said right before Stefan, who gave me an unbelievable look.
''So I see we we're going to have two people try. Keep it to the year.''
Mr. Tanner asked questions for about two minutes straight and Stefan and I just kept saying the answers automatically. Lucky for us, he only said dates that happened after we were born. Each one that we said, he got more and more frustrated.
''The Korean war?''
''1959 to 1953.'' Stefan answer this time.
''Ha!'' Tanner burst out. ''It ended it '52!'' He turned around to start teaching.
''Actually,'' I spoke up. ''It was '53''
He gave me and Stefan death glances. The whole room was filled with tension as the class looked between us and Tanner.''Look it up!'' He shouted to the class. Sudenly, books were out, and kids had their phone out to look on the internet. ''Quickly!''
A kid suddenly said "It was 1953."
Mr. Tanner looked back and forth between me and Stefan deciding which one of us to kill first but then decided to turn around and start teaching. But the class wasn't ready, they all burst out applauding us. I smiled and turned to Stefan. He held out his hand and I gave him a high five loving being close to my brother again. The only thing that would make it more satisfying would be if he remembered me. I looked down at my desk sadly and listened to class, feeling Stefan's eyes on me the whole time.
