Flora held her knife out in front of her and spun in a circle. She needed to find some sort if hiding spot and soon. She started to walk forward and stumbled over the edge of the staircase going upstairs.

"Damn it!" She whispered. The cut started bleeding and she attempt to walk up the stairs in pitch black lighting. Suddenly, there was a loud crash as something in the basement fell over. Her heart was racing she could feel it beating in her chest like it was about to explode. Reaching for her phone in her pocket she discovered it wasn't there. Now she had no way of communicating and she was stuck in some basement with creepy Oliver and climbing up the stairs with a bleeding cut on your left foot and a knife in your hand is not easy. Again there was a noise coming from deeper in the basement. This time it sounded like someone was trying to move forward but they kept falling over. Flora contemplated calling out to the person she thought was Oliver. Finally after a long string of swearing and loud things falling she called out, "Oliver?"

The noises stopped, "Who's there?"

Flora recognized the voice as Oliver's. "It's Flora."

"Oh," Oliver responded. "Hi. What are you doing down here?"

"Looking for you."

"Okay. Well you found me," Oliver said.

"Now can you help me get out of here?"

"Where are you?" Flora asked.

"I have no idea, I can't see a damn thing." Oliver said, clearly agitated.

"Umm can you follow the sound of my voice or something?" Flora suggested. "And watch out for the edge of the stairs, I have a nasty cut on my leg."

"I'm trying," Oliver said.

Then like some sort of miracle a bright light shined down on Flora from above. "Thank goodness we found you!" Jillian said.

"Guys!!" Flora yelled.

"Have you seen Oliver?" Rob asked.

"I'm right here man!" Oliver shouted as he walked into the beam of light looking disheveled. He flipped his brown shaggy hair out of his face and looked up at the group.

"Oh well I guess we are all here then," Patricia said.

"Why don't you guys come up here and we can figure out how to get the power back on," Maria suggested.

Flora stood up and winced. "I cut my foot on the bottom of the stairs."

Oliver walked over to her and picked her up like she was a piece of paper. "I gotcha!"

"Thanks," Flora said blushing.

Once Flora and Oliver made it up the stairs everyone walked into the dining room and sat at the table. Jillian set the flashlight in the middle of the table pointing to the ceiling so everyone could see.

"What do we do?" asked Maria.

"We could talk to your parents," suggested Flora.

"They aren't here," Rob responded.

"What?" Maria said, shocked.

"You didn't know?" Rob replied. "I thought they told you!"

"No!" Maria responded.

"Okay, well I guess that's not an option," Dave said.

"We should check to see if your neighbors power is out," Jillian suggested.

"If it's a full block power outage someone probably knows about it and it should be fixed soon," Patricia said.

"If it's just this house we probably should tell the electric company or something," Oliver suggested.

They walked to the window with Jillian holding the flashlight and looked outside. The streetlights were out and no lights came from the neighbors houses.

"I guess it's a full street power outage," Maria said.

"That probably means someone will notice and it should be back on soon," Jillian said.

"Let's go to bed. It's already 3:30 and I'm tired!" Flora said.

"Yeah you need your 'beauty sleep'," Dave said jokingly mocking her.

"HA HA very funny," Flora responded.

"Let's just not mention any of this night to your parents," Dave said.

"Yeah, what happens in the dark, stays in the dark," Rob said.
