"Are you a hundred percent sure I absolutely have to do it?"
Kong looked up from his laptop as he gave me his very patented sigh of exasperation, still sitting rather nonchalantly in the exact same position on the couch. I, on the other hand have been pacing back and forth the living room like a caged animal trying to figure out what I had done to deserve my literal nightmare to be written on that paper.
"You had ten full days to read the script and approve it. And you told me you did. So naturally I didn't believe you and asked you if you were sure you had read the script. Once again you said you did. Obviously I asked you again if you were absolutely sure you had, and then you snapped at me and ate chocolate ice cream the rest of the afternoon."
Oh!
"So......you are saying there is a chance we can scratch out the scene then?"
He didn't even deign to respond to that as he looked back down towards his screen, fully prepared to ignore me while I was barely getting ramped up to freak out about my first make out scene with a dude. Not just any dude mind you. The man I hate!
My pacing resuming at three times the speed while I tried to comprehend how I would ever get through this trauma tomorrow.
"Kong, I don't know if I can do this. I have never kissed a guy before."
"I can't imagine it being really that different."
"But what if I want to throw up as soon as I come within one inch of his stinky breath."
"Well, act like you don't want to throw up then."
"How are you so chilled about this? Don't you care that I will be exchanging spit with your boyfriend?"
To which he simply shrugged. See, this is exactly what I mean when I claim they have the most yawningly boring relationship ever. What budding romance gives no damn about the person you are dating going around making out with other people.
"Is he atleast a decent kisser? Please tell me he isn't the type to slobber his saliva all over."
"Don't know. Maybe you can let me know if he is any good."
It took me entirely a little too long for his words to sink in when my jaw dropped in shock.
"Wait, what? You guys haven't even kissed yet? What do you even do on your dates?"
"Talk about blue sneakers apparently."
That does it. This farce of a relationship has to absolutely end. What kind of a loser takes Kong on a date and doesn't even kiss him. I mean after four years I would have expected Kong to have been wanting to hump away like bunnies.
Not that I am complaining ofcourse. Cause, please, who needs those visuals haunting them the rest of their life. It's just that my Kong deserved better than that bore fest. Obviously it was upto me to save his sanity.
And then out of nowhere I had a stroke of pure genius. Hands down the smartest idea I have ever come up with.
"Help me."
"Huh?"
"I said help me."
"With what?"
I walked up right in front of him and plucked the laptop away from his hands, placing it on the side table. For once making sure I had his unhindered attention.
"Help me with this kissing thing."
A light frown started forming on his forehead as he tried to digest my words. His eyes peering at me in confusion. Have I mentioned before how much I absolutely adore these micro expression on Kong's face. Especially cause there is almost no one other me who gets to see them.
"What do you mean? Do you want to do a rehearsal before the shoot? I can ask Charlie if he is up for it if you want."
"Oh lord hell no. Having to do it once is already bad enough. I want you to help me."
"Me?"
"Yeah, you see I have no experience in kissing men, and turns out you do."
"So what, you want me to give you pointers? It's really not that different you know, maybe slightly hairier I guess."
"No, you idiot. I mean help me by letting me kiss you."
I can unequivocally say I have never ever seen Kong looking so shocked before. His large brown eyes going wide with surprise as he was clearly taken aback at my exclamation. The pin drop silence in the room was louder than any scream as I waited for him to respond. To be honest I have no idea how he would react, although knowing Kong I should have more or less expected what followed.
A swift flick on the forehead before he pushed himself up from the couch and walked towards his bedroom.
"Why would I let you kiss me? That makes no sense."
I pounced up too following him to his room while this crazy idea began to sound more and more reasonable in my head.
"Actually it makes perfect sense. Aren't you always the one pushing me to keep working on my acting skills. You don't want to embarrass us in front of everyone tomorrow now do you."
"I didn't realize you needed kissing practice. Infact I would have thought that is one skill you have honed thoroughly."
Ouch!
"I don't need kissing practice, I just need to get comfortable making out with a guy."
"Do it with Charlie then."
"Yuck! Why would I voluntarily touch those gross lips twice."
"Why would you volunteer to touch mine?"
"Because yours aren't gross. C'mon what do you say."
"Arthit, quit kidding around."
"I'm not kidding. I'm serious. I am really, really nervous about tomorrow, and I don't want to fuck up, and I don't want to come off looking all prissy and homophobic and a total jerk but I will if I'm not prepared and all I'm doing the entire night is stressing about it over and over again. And I'm pretty sure I am going to end up getting dark circles and look hideous and then everyone is going to be mad at me cause..."
"Oh for heaven's sake..."
I was still very much in the middle of my long rant when all of a sudden I felt Kong's hand reach out and grab my face. A quick whiplash later out of nowhere I feel soft lips against mine. Barely a fraction of a second. Not even long enough for my brain to register what just happened and he was already moving away.
"Happy now? You can be such a drama queen at times. I swear I should stop spoiling you so..."
It was only when my dumb brain snapped into focus did it finally sink in that Kong had just kissed me, I mean just barely but still, and just as he was walking away from me after nonchalantly pressing our lips together did pure instinct finally take over.
Reaching out I grabbed his wrist and pushed him flat on his back on the rather inviting bed.
"Ar...Arthit? What are you doing?"
I slowly climbed over him, pinning his arms to his side as I bent low to whisper softly in his ear.
"I think I need a little more practice."
