Hosta's come in many different shapes and sizes, there are small cultivars like the Hosta Abby that grows 20 - 30cm tall and the large hosta empress will that grows 48 T by 70 inches W.
Propagate
To propagate a hosta you can divide the roots by cutting it with a spade or prying it into two parts, or more if you desire, just make sure there are a decent amount of roots on each division. This gives the divisions a higher chance of establishing without any problems.
Watering
Hostas like a lot of water but not so much that there sitting in it as that can cause root rot.
Pest problems
Hostas are relatively susceptible to slugs and snails which ruin the overall look of your plant. You can help reduce these pests by using sharp gravel and traps around your plant. I would not recommend you to use the pellets as they are potentially harmful to creatures like hedgehogs.
