ABNER PATTED MAJOR'S neck and smiled contently at the large Clydesdale. "You get a break today, ol' boy."
The horse continued chewing on the apple given to him by Emery, who was standing by Abner.
The group had agreed that Major was too slow and feeble for this trip ( that was predicted to take days ). Grosvenor was estimated to take nearly a whole day of traveling to reach. Depending on the mechanical creatures they would be hunting down, it could be weeks before they return home. This left them all nervous; especially Carolina.
"Are you sure you understand?" Clyde chided, placing items into a bag he'd be carrying on the way to Grosvenor.
Carolina tapped the tips of her fingers together and watched Clyde pack. She was trying to keep her composure and be supportive. "Yes, of course I do." She insisted.
The older of the two cut his eyes at his sister skeptically.
"I know this journey will be a dangerous one, and it'll be long. Like pa said, staying here is the safest thing for me to do."
"Yes...I just don't want you to be scared or feel left out."
She chewed on her bottom lip, rather than saying anything.
Clyde frowned, "Do you?"
"I...no. I am worried, though." She nearly whispered. "More worried for you all than I am for myself."
Clyde offered an unsure smile and went back to packing the bag that laid on his bed. "I know. I'm worried, too. But you'll be okay. We both will."
"I wish I had the confidence that you do."
He chuckled awkwardly, "I don't have as much confidence as you think..."
Carolina rocked on her heels. "Well, you have faith. And I like that. I admire you for it."
Clyde blinked in surprise. He'd placed the last item in his bag and slung it over his shoulder, turning towards Carolina. He smiled, ruffling her hair and kneeling down. "Carolina, you can have just as much faith. And I think you do."
