"I CAN'T BELIEVE we're already going back to the castle," Emery pulled the strap of his backpack onto his shoulder, focused on the dirt path ahead of him. He and Clyde were well ahead of the others and they were carrying bags on their backs to lessen the load that Major had to carry.

Not everyone came with a weapon
( despite their vigorous training the past few days ), but at the back of the formation, Abner knew where his axe was hidden in the wagon and Aaron was carrying his rifle on a strap over his shoulders.

"Well, we received a lot of great feedback there and we sold a lot of things." Clyde considered. But, thoughtfully, he added, "Even with the situation regarding the king and his new wife."

Emery only gave a single nod in response.

Clyde's remark had been discreet, because not everyone wanted to be reminded of the long war that left their world not only desperate to be remolded and to strive to be rebuilt, but also forcing two kingdoms to unite just so that they could survive.

"What're you talking about?" A petite blonde girl strode up from behind the two boys.

Carolina was fortunately allowed to tag along with the group today. Abner knew how much she disliked staying home by herself, and if things played out similarly to the last time they visited the castle town, she'd be left by herself until late that night.

"Just about how excited we are that you got to come with us today." Emery grinned toothily at Carolina, holding his fist out.

Carolina giggled and played along, giving Emery's knuckles a soft nudge with her own. "I'm glad Pa let me come with you guys."

Major neighed behind them while walking at a steady pace, making the three in front glance over their shoulders at the Clydesdale.

"I think Major is, too." Clyde vouched jokingly.

Both Emery and Carolina chuckled at this.

Abner was still sipping on the tea that Victoria had made for everyone; this time, it was camomile. "Hopefully it won't rain again while we're out there selling."
