Chapter 5: Us

So we were friends. And friends is a good place to start, rite? But I could tell he wanted more. Heck, I wanted more!! The way he would catch my eye during Spanish class, how he was willing to 'tutor me' in geometry... If only he would ask me out. Yeah right. Like that was ever going to happen.

So it was school as usual until something exciting happened. And knowing high school, something exciting is always happening.

We were at pe, my 'favorite' class, when I realized something was up. How could some thing not be wrong if the cute guy standing next to you suddenly got really quiet and then kept nervously glancing over at you! Then Taylor, the bossy redhead, came up and bluntly told me, "Alex likes you."

"Cool." I replied, not really caring, since it came out of her mouth.

"You two would make a really cute couple..." She continued.

"Uhh thanks." I quickly said, trying to cut her off. The last thing I needed was Taylor starting some rumor about me and Alex. It was only the third week of school! But of course she just kept in blabbing, full speed ahead.

"You two should get together soon. Alex mentioned something to me about him asking you out."

"Really?" I replied. I had no idea he had intentions of moving past the friend phase. But then again, you can't believe everything people tell you now-a-days. Especially when it comes out of Taylor's mouth.

"Yup." She continued. "Hey, I'll even do it for him, since he's obviously too shy to do it himself. So, pretend I'm Alex. Will you go out with me?" She asked, in an imitation on Alex's voice.

"No. If Alex wants to go out with me, he needs to ask me himself." And with that, I angrily stormed off. But my angry storming off thing didnt really quite go as planned. Taylor came running after me.

"Wait!!" She called out. And me being the nice person I am, I stopped and waited for her to catch up. "Did you just reject Alex??" She asked.

"Nope." I replied. The only person I had rejected was Taylor. "I haven't rejected Alex...yet."
