The sun was high and hot in the sky, the last splatfest has concluded with Team Chaos taking the win over Team Order. Even though life is supposed to get more chaotic, everything is just as mundane as it's always been. Deconstruction and analyzation of Tar-Tar's NILS statue had been going on a week after his defeat and all seemed well in Inkopolis. Just the same mundane days one after the other.
Agent 8 had gotten more accustomed to Inkopolis life with Agent 3 also known to the public as W.I. Rider. After all, when doing Turf war's you need a name! The central Turf war hub requires a name to be registered in order to participate. Though Agent 3 does like her privacy as she was one of the secret agent's of Inkopolis. So with the white inky rider she had, the name was born. In those early days she didn't realize the name would be the one to identify her everywhere but there's no going back.
W.I. casually walked around the square as always, seeming to be waiting for someone. Agent 8 soon emerged from the crowded area near the central Turf war location, she seemed to be adjusted just fine. Even happy. "Eight!" Three grinned as she waved. Eight soon quickly hurried over as if being pushed.
"You still never told me why you chose Eight to be your I.D. Aren't you worried someone will find you?" Three asked, though quite casually. Eight chuckled and soon spoke up. "That's the goal. I'm sure with my escape even more Octoling's will show up here. Especially since Tar-Tar has become Tar-Toast." She joked, happily sipping on one of Crusty Sean's drinks. Three sighed but seemed happy. "We have been seeing more Octolings come out of the woodwork. So I think it's possible that's working." Sure Three sounded bored, it was just her voice. She wasn't super expressive with her feelings but even Eight could tell she was happy.
"So anyway how was your job interview?" Three prompted.
Eight seemed surprised but soon very excited. "I got the job! Sheldon said it was good to have some extra tentacles on board. Can you believe it?"
As excited as Eight was Three knew she would be great. "Well you do always listen to Sheldon when he has a new weapon to show off to us. Don't get me wrong I love Sheldon, but sometimes I just really want to go use the weapon and figure things out myself." Three explained.Though while the two were talking, Three noticed something in the corner of her eye and turned to a few inklings doing something weird. They jumped over the yellow guard set up near Crusty Sean's truck, seemingly with their turf war weapons in their respected cases. But something seemed off. Usually the kids would go to the train station or walk home, but not these four. Eight finally caught Three's eyes and nodded as if agreeing to follow. The two packed up their weapon's and gear and quietly followed behind, though in attempts not to make it too obvious.
The kids in question seemed to be inklings, though ink color varied. The two followed quietly as if on a mission in Octo Canyon or in the Metro. The kids made a sharp turn into an alley which seemed deserted from popular shops or eating districts, this creating a big red flag for the two agents. The inklings soon made their way to a grate and quickly looked around and soon jumped in. The pair after figuring the coast was clear walked into the alley and to the grate. Though quiet for a minute or two to make sure they were down.
"What do you think they could be up to?" Eight asked as she looked down into the grate. "Probably illegal activity. I can't believe even after the idols speaking up we are still having these problems." Three looked upset at her jumped conclusion. "What do you mean?" Eight asked with a puzzled look. "Right, you're not in the loop. In the city, turf war's are usually illegal outside of the central locations all around Inkopolis. Usually those levels were pretty low a few years ago. But with the illegalization of some special abilities and gear two years ago there's been a spike in activity."
"But why does that matter?" Eight asked.
"Well it's been seen around some areas of the city of illegal weapons and gear being sold. Some people even go as far as to remove the special limiters on some gear. It's not pretty. That being said some people even do illegal turf war battles in certain parts of the city. That means no respawn points. Which is highly dangerous and could lead to serious injury." Sure it was a lot of information but Eight nodded. "C'mon. Lets go." Three stated before jumping down into the grate with Eight doing the same.
