Btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRISHIMA MY PRECIOUS CHILD!!!
Soulmates had always been a sore topic for Izuku, who had grown up unfortunate enough to understand what a broken, or more accurately, shattered heart looked like. Constantly drinking the pain away, mood swings that lead to unpleasant events, it was all painful. Because that other half had been violently torn from his mother, and that's something you can never get back. You only have one soulmate after all. You don't get a second chance. And how Izuku's dad was able to leave his mother so easily still gets him all confused, because he should've loved her as much as she loved him. It should've been mutual, so why?
Because soulmates don't matter, they're just there to give you false hope. They don't mean anything, they represent an undying love, but that's not how it works. Love is never undying. There is no way your heart is going to remain unscarred, you can't avoid it. Everyone's hearts break a few good times. That's the cold hard truth that Izuku had concluded while watching his mother in agony just about ten years ago. And so he decided there is no point. It's all useless. And he made up his mind to never let him get as badly broken as his mother had been.
So what was he supposed to do now that he had found his soulmate? He had been stuck on this topic since the afternoon, and he hadn't been able to get any sleep. Now exhausted and unsure how to face Todoroki like everything was normal, he grudgingly forced himself to get ready for another expectedly long day at school.
Brush your teeth, get dressed in the familiar school uniform, try to tie your tie, pack your yellow backpack, eat breakfast in the joined kitchen, leave, sit in your seat until class starts. A simple plan really, and Izuku went over and over it in his head. Tossing and turning the list of homemade instructions. Now, he thought dreadfully, can I do that without running into Todoroki? Probably not.
Izuku knew deep, well not so deep down, that he was going to end up doing one of two things. Show up way to early because that meant it was less likely he would run into Todoroki on the way there, or show up right before class starts, once again successfully avoiding Todoroki. And he also knew that there was no real way that he would be able to keep his cool and act normal around him. So what to do?
Izuku pondered this while getting ready, and while over-chewing a bite full of cereal. In fact he had been so focused on how to avoid Todoroki that he was unable to realize his presence when the taller boy walked into the kitchen. Then eventually, when he heard his name, and snapped his head up in the direction of the voice, their eyes met. "O-oh T-Todoroki. Hi." He said, not so smoothly, after finally swallowing the one bite of food he had taken. "Morning." Izuku said his greeting and nervously looked away, confused as to why his heart was beating so fast and why he felt a slight blush creep onto his cheeks.
Awkward tension replaced any actually conversation as Todoroki tried to find the confidence to ask a certain thing that had been chewing on him. And Izuku was just trying to quickly eat his cereal so he could leave. Luckily he was saved by Kirishima who yawned while tiredly scratching his stomach, making his way over to grab some sort of breakfast himself. He was still in his pajamas which consisted of a tight black tank top and loose red shorts, his hair supported with a thick white headband that had been recently put on. "Oh, morning guys," he said through his yawn.
"Good morning Kirishima," the two other boys replied in sync. Surprised by their timing they glanced at each other, locking eyes. Once again Izuku tore his gaze away. He finished his cereal without speaking any more, and walked out of the dorms to the 2-A classroom.
Izuku had nailed his previous theory, because by the the time he arrived he was 30 minutes early, and the only one there was Iida. Izuku wouldn't put it past Iida to get there an hour early though, so it came to no real surprise.
"Ah, good morning Midoriya." The blue haired sixteen-year-old year old called out enthusiastically, fixing his glasses with a stiff hand.
"Morning Iida." Izuku replied, trying, but failing to stifle a yawn.
"Are you tired Midoriya?" He asked, concern evident, but the intensity still obvious as well. "You need to make sure you get plenty asleep, especially because we are still young and growing. Plus with all the training and physical activities we're doing, we must make sure we stay healthy!" He elaborated.
"I know, I know." Izuku shook off the comment, but smiled to make it seem less rude. Afterwards he tiredly waddled over and slumped into his chair, exaggerating, so he could tease Iida a bit.
"Are you okay Midoriya?" He asked, standing up as if Izuku needed the support.
"I'm fine," Izuku giggled.
"It's not funny to joke about lack of sleep Midoriya. It's a serious problem!" Iida replied.
"Aww, you're no fun Iida." Izuku pouted, sticking out his bottom lip.
"Hey, I can be plenty fun!" Iida shouted out, as if offended.
"Oh, I know." Izuku squeaked out, covering his mouth in a desperate attempt to contain his laughs. He took his time getting out the laugher before calming down. Iida even joined in a bit, letting out a few chuckles here and there. But all evidence of a cheery conversation was erased when Todoroki walked in the room.
"Good Morning, Todoroki." Iida greeted, getting a basic reply from his classmate.
As for Izuku, he looked away, trying to become invisible. At this moment he was incredibly jealous of Hagakure. But unfortunately it didn't work. Todoroki approached the front of his desk. "Hey, Midoriya? Can we talk after school?" He asked.
"H-huh? O-oh, sure, um where?" Somewhere in him he found the courage to reply. Dammit! Why can't I just act normal!? He mentally screamed.
"Could I come over to your room, maybe?" He said it casual, monotone even, he was completely unaffected, but it made Izuku turn the color of a bright red rose.
"Um, s-sure." He said, avoiding eye contact. Well shit.
I hope you like! Bye!
