I can't believe it!! I made two friends in one class!!!!
Yet they were able to walk to their class together and I had to go upstairs to art. It was a nice quiet walk up to art, well it was untill I walked passed a group of people fighting in a nearby hallway.
As I got closer to them I realized that most of them were taller football players, yet, their was a smaller looking kid in between all of them. They seemed frightened.I set down my books and ran over to where they all were. The closer I had gotten to them the louder they got.
I looked around the hallway when I got to where the group was and realized that there were people just standing there. Watching. Not a single one of them was trying to help, but I was."Leave him alone!!"
The bystanders looked like they had seen a ghost once I spoke up. They all looked at me like I was crazy and started to back out of the hallway when the taller group of boys turned my way."Look what we have here boys. A little girl trying to play hero."
He turned back and looked to the rest of them and then back at me.
"And why should we do that? Huh, Pinkie.""Because, uh, because....you guys could get in trouble."
He scoffed. "And why would we care if we got in a little bit of trouble?"
I took a deep breath. "Cause you could end up missing a practice or kicked of the team." I sounded more confident in my awnser this time. Yet I'm hoping they focus on that more then the fear in my eyes.
He looked back at the other players and back to me. "Your lucky we have a game coming up."
They started to walk back down the hallway when He turned back and looked at the kid on the floor.
"You Lucked out this time. Yet next time, you won't." He turned away with a displeased smirk on his face and walked away with the rest of his friends. After watching them walk down the hallway and the other kids dispersed I turned my attention to the smaller kid on the ground.
"Hey, are you alright?" I smiled and offered my hand to them.
"Uh, yeah I'm fine." They sounded nervous so I shook their hand and introduced myself.
"Well it's nice to meet you! My name's Robyn. What's yours?"
"My name is P-Percy."
"Percy! I like that name!"
I smiled and waited a few seconds before I asked my next question.
"So Percy. What are your preferred pronouns?"They looked shocked by my question and looked at the floor.
I mentally slapped myself. 'What if their insecure! You know better!'I signed. "I'm sorry, that was inconsiderate of me."
Their head shot up as they waved their hands around frantically. "No! Nonononono! Your fine!" They fiddled their thumbs. "It's considerate that you even asked. I use he/him pronouns. How about you?"My smile came back as I awnsered. "She/her! Hey, do you wanna be friends?"
His face lit up as he processed the question. "Wait, you want to be friends with me!? Really?"
I nodded. "Of course!"
He hugged me, "I would love to be friends!"
I hugged him back and looked at the clock. We have 1 minute to get to class!I pull back from the hug. "I'd hate to cut this short but, what's your next class?"
"Art. Why?"
I grabbed his hand and dragged him behind me. "Cause we got a minute to get there!"We laughed as we ran down the hallway to get to class.
