Your POV~

I sat quietly in my regular seat in Miss Bustier's classroom, doodling a picture depicting an ugly gorilla resembling Lila, who was currently blabbing out lies about Prince Ali and crap on the video screen in front of the room. I rolled my eyes and continued the drawing. I heard a small, quiet, chuckle to my right and I turned to see Nathaniel looking at my doodles. I blushed and laughed along. Nathaniel and I had become best friends since we got seated next to each other in English a year ago. I used to be friends with Marinette and Alya, and I was a very outgoing person, but then Marinette and I got into a fight because she thought I liked Adrien. I won't go into detail. The fight led me to believe that I shouldn't open myself up to being friends with anyone, and so I didn't. Until we got new seats and I sat by Nathaniel. We coincidentally sat by each other in almost all our classes every year since then, and both loved to draw. We were quiet, reserved artists, and didn't socialize much with anyone else.

We had developed a system to avoid getting caught drawing in class; we would take turns being lookout, and used identical sketchbooks to our class notebooks to switch out easily. It was fun being his friend.

But recently, I had caught myself blushing whenever he complimented me, and I often had small heart flutters when we made eye contact. It was weird, because I had never felt this way towards him before, we had always just been best friends.

He poked my shoulder and pulled me from my thoughts. I glanced up and noticed Miss Bustier walking towards us, the video chat with Lila having ended. I quickly and smoothly switched notebooks, pretending to edit last week's notes. She smiled warmly as she passed us, not noticing a thing.

I quietly tore off a small piece of paper from the back of my notebook and wrote 'thanks :)' on it. I quietly slid the note to Nathaniel. He chuckled again and flipped it over. He slipped it back. 'No problem y/n ;)' it read. I felt my face get hot as I smiled.

Neither of us noticed Miss Bustier walking back the way she came, and within a few seconds we were both walking down the hall to Mr. Damocles's office for passing notes in class, taunting laughter echoing from the classroom behind us.

I was embarrassed, but Nathaniel just started laughing. I was confused, but I couldn't help laughing along. Soon we were cracking up, trying and failing to stay quiet as we passed other classrooms.

"We had that whole system planned out, and we still get sent to the principal's office!" He exclaimed, his voice soft, but slightly louder than normal. I snickered again, which triggered another fit of laughter.

We stopped at the office and stood in front of the door, composing ourselves. It took several painfully funny minutes. We stepped inside at long last.

"Y/n L/n! Nathaniel Kurtzberg! I got a call from your teacher 10 minutes ago! What took you so long to get here?!" Mr. Damocles thundered. It took all my might not to start laughing again.

"S-sorry sir, ummm..." I stuttered, my brain wildly searching for an excuse.

"I-I had to use the bathroom sir...?" Nathaniel managed, murmuring. It seemed to satisfy the principal, which wasn't too much of a surprise. He was extremely gullible.

"You two have been in this office tooooo many times during your time in this school. Drawing in class, talking in class, passing notes in class. The only reason I haven't separated you yet is because you both work very well together- when you're paying attention."

I swallowed, sitting down as he gestured for us to. I felt embarrassed, getting Nathaniel in trouble. Again.

"Sorry sir, I started it. It won't happen again, I'm sure." I said nervously. I was used to speaking with Mr. Damocles, but I still had my basic fear of other people, beside Nathaniel and like, my family.
