And just like that, I was in my dad's car on the way to the airport.
It felt like forever.
I can't believe my dream and nightmare are both coming to reality right now.
I park in the parking lot and hop out of my car. I jog towards the exit of the airport and look around.
I catch a glimpse of him.
"Jonah." I breathe. His back is to me and I run up to him and hug him from behind. He struggles to stay up but he turns around and I leap into his arms and wrap my arms around his neck so tight.
"I missed you so much." He breathes in my neck as he lightly kisses it. I pulled away and took a look at his face and gasped.
"What happened?" I spoke. His right eye was swollen and purple and his bottom lip was busted.
"Don't worry about it." He half smiles. "What about you? How have you been holding up?" He asked concerned as he took in my appearance. "I heard the voicemail you left me."
"Can we not talk about it?." I answered. Why is this awkward? Why can't we be our usual selves right now? I usually tell him everything.
"Well, we have some talking to do because something changed." Jonah says as he breaks the silence. "Let me drive back. You look tired."
I nod as he intertwines our fingers and we walk towards the car.
"Sorry I woke you up." He says as he tosses his bags into the trunk.
"I was already awake." I mumble.
"Babe, what the hell." He says as he sits in the drivers seat.
"What?" I answered.
"Why aren't you taking care of yourself?" His concern made me feel a bit guilty. "Okay what's wrong?"
"Nothing." I say a bit too quickly. Jonah takes my face in his hands and makes me look at him.
"Why are you acting like you don't know me? I'm sorry I left, I won't do that to you again." He says as he searches my blank eyes.
"Do you love me?" I blurt out. Jonah looks taken aback but quickly composes himself.
"Of course I do, you know how much I love you. Is this because of what Maddie said? Because I wasn't cheating on you." He says as he moves his hands from my face.
"Then where were you?" I plead.
"Babe I can't tell you that." He says in a sad tone. "But listen I love you and only you." He says as he faces me. I move his hands from my face as small tears fall from my face.
"You don't want to even have this kid with me." I cry.
"Yes I do! I was just scared babe. You can't tell me you weren't. I just didn't know how my parents would react or how we would find a way to cope with university I was just... it wasn't the right reaction and I'm sorry. It was a fucked up thing." He admits as he wipes my freely falling tears. "I fucking love you okay?"
A few more tears fall but I manage to nod and smile. Jonah starts the car and drives out of the parking lot not once letting go of my hand. We arrive to a small ledge.
"What are we doing here?" I ask as Jonah gets out of the car and pops the trunk.
He rummages through his suitcase and pulls something out. He comes to my side and opens the door.
"Come." He says. I slowly get out of the car and he closes the door. Jonah grabs my hand and pulls me to follow him. We stop when we get closer to the ledge. Jonah places a towel on the grass and sits down. "Sit beside me." He says as he tugs on my hand. "Talk to me. Please."
"This is a dream and a nightmare." I sigh after a moment of silence. "I wanted to see you so bad and I missed you, but all the things Maddie told me and the fact that I might be pregnant make it a nightmare because now that you are back, it makes everything a reality." I admit. I look up at Jonah and he looks like he's thinking.
"You want to know what I think?" He asks as he pulls me onto his lap as I face him. "You want to know what I think?" He asks and I nod. "I think you are the most gorgeous person I've ever laid eyes on. I think that you deserve to be happy and that Maddie can fuck off. Don't listen to her, after all, only my opinion matters." He smirked. "What I'm trying to say is, we can get through this. Whatever it is we age going through, I'll support you, you'll support me and nothing can ever split us apart."
"You can't support me if you won't answer my calls or texts." I say as I wrap my arms around his neck and play with his hair.
"You're right and that's why I won't be doing that again. You are my world." He sighs as his arms snake around my waist and he pulls me close. "Tomorrow you'll take a pregnancy test."I groan and bury my head in the crook of his neck. "It has to be done someday."
"I don't want to be pregnant." I groan quickly realising how wrong it came out. I quickly sit up. "I didn't mean it like that."
"I know what you mean don't worry." Jonah says with a small chuckle. "I felt the same way when you know, that happened. It's just, I want it to be with you, I just don't want it now. Remember when we had sex for the first time?"
I nod while my cheeks slowly heat up. Jonah laughs as he lays back taking me with him.
"Right before that, I told you I'd give you all the kids you want, in four or five years." He sighs. "My point is I want it all with you. So now, later, I don't fucking care as long as it's with you. So tomorrow, you are going to take the test, and we are going to continue with our lives."
"Bad boy gone soft?" I say with a small laugh. I yelp as Jonah flips us over so he's hovering over me. He lightly kisses my lips and when he pulls away we both look over and see the sun start to rise.
"No, this one's just in love." He admits.
