The only people to know about the trade were the Fab Four.  On the day of their last game for the regular season, Dinah, the other portion of the Devil’s pitchfork, came up to Lauren and Camila. She wanted to know if they knew about the trade and what their plans were.  It hadn’t occurred to Lauren to ask Dinah how she felt about the trade.  She instantly remembered the article cited not only her and her wife’s name, but Dinah’s as well.  Normani hadn’t said that it was an all or nothing deal, so maybe if they didn’t take it Dinah would still go.

“ Soooo...what are yall going to do?”

“Do about what?,” Lauren didn’t tell Camila that the article mentioned Dinah so she was going to pretend as though she had no clue as to what Dinah was talking about.

“Come on, Dawg! I know yall know about the ‘Big Easy Trade-Off’”, Dinah used air quotes as she repeated another headline.  “I’m only in this if you guys are.” She looked around to make sure that no one but the three of them were within hearing distance. “Honestly, this is great. I’m thinking about retiring within the next three or so years.  That contract is for five years, perfect timing. But I don’t make that move if y’all aren’t down.”

It was as if it were fate talking. Camila had been thinking about the trade and was going to tell Lauren that they should take the entire time they were allotted to think about it, which was a week, they had four days left. "I actually think that we're gonna take it. For every problem that arises, three solutions are found. Plus, it'll be good for a change in pace."

"Alright dawgs, we'll talk about it some more after the game. Let’s get this one over with!"

The three went their separate ways to get in the right headspace. Tonight was a big night.  The Devils could be champions of the decade if they won this game.

Fourth quarter, three minutes and fifty seconds left on the clock. Devils are on defense with Dinah and Camila double guarding the Panthers' point guard, Rachel Davis. Lauren, who was already three passes ahead of the other team, was successfully preventing the ball from being passed to the wing for an attempted three pointer. All the Devils needed was a turnover and the game would be theirs. Everyone was working their hardest to make the turn over possible, but just when it seemed like that turnover was going to happen, Dinah fouled, which allowed Davis to get two free throws. The arena went silent as Davis walked up to the line and both teams took their stances. Free throw number one was nothing but net. The Panthers fans went crazy. The ref passes Davis the ball, she shoots, it bounces off of the rim into Lauren's hands. Lauren is met with the force of Lacie Edmunds, the two battle for the ball and the ref calls jump ball, possession goes to the Devils.

Coach Williams calls a time out. "Cabello get the ball to Hansen. Hansen stay outside of the arc and pass to Jauregui, we can win this with threes. Jauregui take all the shots you can get.  Lewis and Jefferson, keep 15, 35, and 78 off of them. Time to work some Devils magic. Work on three... 1...2....3. WORK!" Coach had resulted to calling Lauren and Camila by their maiden names after multiple occasions of calling their last names and getting the wrong girl.

Lauren and Camila smiled at each other as they returned to the court. They knew what had to happen.

With one minute left on the clock, they went to work. Lauren had hit four three pointers in the last two minutes and felt like she was on fire. The Devils clearly had this game in the bag so why not have some fun. She passed the ball to Camila after Dinah got it to her, urging her wife to take some shots. Camila got the message and went to town in the minute that she had left. Two turnovers and five points later, the Devils were the league champions with a seventy-nine to fifty-six win over the Panthers.
