"Hi sweetie,"
It was my dad.
He hadn't been home for months.
He walked forward with his arms extended,
quite obviously looking for a hug.
But I couldn't do it,
I wanted to.
I really did.
But I still couldn't trust anyone to touch me.
Dad looked taken aback.
Maybe even slightly heard.
"Are you not happy to see me?"
Mum placed her hand on his shoulder.
"You're not talking either?"
I fiddled with my hands, not daring to look up.
He was angry.
I was the one to make him angry.
Within a few minutes, I was left to stand by myself in the comfort of my empty hallway.
