It was Monday and the day I heard the news about Ri. Her parents were looking everywhere for her. She never went home after our little girls day out. Her parents thought she went back home with me and never really thought much of it. But when I came to school, I was called into the principal's office and this is what happened.
"Amanda, did Riley go back home with you on Saturday?"
"No Miss. Palmer. I left her at the intersection of our house. She insisted that I leave her there cause I was late for my curfew."
"What! Where could she be then?" Miss. Palmer said, biting her perfectly polished nails.
"What happened?" I asked with worry in my voice.
"RILEY NEVER CAME HOME!" She said breaking down.
"What!" I said in a whisper, feeling my knees get weak all of a sudden.
"I don't know what could have happen."
"Don't worry, the police are on their way." The principal said.
"Don't worry!? DON'T WORRY!! OF COURSE I'M GOING TO WORRY! SHE'S MY DAUGHTER!!"
I was just standing there taking everything in. Its my fault. I kept saying to myself.
"It's all my fault." I said aloud.
"No its not." Miss. Palmer said, trying to comfort me.
"Yes it is. If I had dropped her off at her house, this would have never happen." I said, turning around and running through the door.
"Amanda!!" I heard Miss. Palmer calling after me but i never looked back.
I ran through the hallway, pushing past people as I made my way to the exit, as i was already convinced that i couldn't go through the day with this information in my mind. When the doors were in sight, I pushed and ran harder and burst through them.
I didn't stop running there.
As I ran, my tears clouded my vision and I only heard a car's horn in the distance, rapidly coming closer to me. At this time my tears were rolling down my cheeks and I could see the white CRV coming in for the kill.
I closed my eyes and waited for the impact for my feet suddenly were glued to the ground and I couldn't move. This Is it.
I said to myself.
My story ends here.
