THE EERIE FEELING THAT SOMETHING WAS VERY OFF NEVER RESIDED AS RORY KEPT CHRISTINA COMPANY. She had texted Roman to come fifteen minutes ago, unsure when Letha would arrive and an unwillingness to wait long for company with the ticking time bomb that was Christina. As much as she empathized for the girl, she was not mentally stable in any case.

The white-haired girl's gaze snapped up to Rory's, eyes almost flaring in displeasure, but Rory was sure it was just stress. "You said it was just Letha coming."

Strange. Perhaps she should have answered his calls, but the sanctuary was still a twenty minute drive away. But within a span of two minutes, they heard the grumbling sound of an engine shut off, followed by the sound of frantic knocking at the front door.

She offered Christina a polite smile. "I'll be just a moment. Wait here."

One glance out the side windows framing the door eased her nerves as she opened it to reveal her anxious boyfriend and a paranoid looking Peter.

"Rory? Are you okay?" Roman questioned her immediately, glancing from her belly to her face scanning for the problem. He stepped forward into the foyer while Peter lingered on the porch, looking around searchingly.

"I'm fine, baby's fine," Rory said vaguely, glancing back to where she had left Christina. "I just need your help."

Peter frowned, attuning his senses as he noted she wasn't alone in the house. "Where's Letha?" He wondered who the person in the other room was and why Rory looked so frazzled.

"I was waiting for her when something came up."

Roman tilted his head, "Well, who's here?"

They had been too distracted to notice Letha had finally arrived until she had just about joined them at the front door. "I'm here!" Letha ran up to the steps, confused to find them all there, especially since Peter was supposed to be in hiding, and not standing out in the open where anyone could see them. "We're all here. What's going on?"

Rory glanced back once more, "Don't freak out, okay?"

"Rory, who's here?"

She shook her head, blocking his way as he tried to get past her. "Please, can you just wait here for one second?"

They agreed reluctantly, remaining where they are as she backed away. "Thank you."

She was relieved to find Christina hadn't left, sitting quietly and patiently, but she had obviously overheard and continued staring at the hallway where they waited unseen as Rory approached her. "Hey, my friends are here, okay?I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you. We just want to help you."

Without her say-so, the others filed into the living room, too impatient to wait another two seconds. She tossed them an annoyed look, but they were more surprised to see who Rory was protecting.
