Chapter Four

"What kind of trouble?" I asked as I stood up. "Cancel the meeting? Can we even do that?"

"I don't know, but Nicola just told me that the Black Plague has appeared in the Federation and, since the government outlawed the treatment, extra-strength antibiotics, people are dying, including members of the government." Jacob explained.

"Well, what are we going to do?" I asked.

Jacob's eyes widened. "You-you don't have a plan?"

"Not right now! All those people, and I bet the Federation is making their suffering even worse. I just know it!" I said.

"Well, we'll have to go back to Macedonia to formulate a plan of attack. Nicola and the other diplomats will help, and Nicola said that we could wait a day and get the British diplomats on our side, or we can head straight down." Jacob said.

"We need to get the British diplomats on our side. That means we'll have Irish, Scottish and Welsh diplomats on our side as well. Then, we'll have more people to help." I responded. "This is just the only way to do this since we have no idea what we're going to do."

Jacob nodded. "Okay. We need to tell the boys, though. They have no idea what's happened and we need to keep everyone informed."

I nodded in agreement. "I'm texting Josh now."

A: Okay, we have a new issue. Please come over so we can explain. Bring the others.

J: What's wrong?

A: Jacob and I will tell you all when you get here. Please hurry.

I put my phone down and Jacob and I finished the presentations as the doorbell rang and Scout bounded over to the door, excited to see who was on the other side.

Immediately after opening the door, Josh asked, "What's happening? Why do you look concerned?"

"Come inside. Jacob and I will explain everything." I responded.

Jacob motioned for the boys to sit down on our hodgepodge of seating options. "Sit down, boys. We have a lot of explaining to do."

Jacob waited for everyone to sit down. "I just got a call from Nicola, one of the North Macedonian diplomats we are working with, and he has been informed that The Federation has experienced a resurgence of the Bubonic plague, or the Black Death. if you remember correctly, The Dynasty was obsessed with the Bubonic plague. So, while we can't confirm this, we have reason to believe that they are the cause of this.

"We need to return to Macedonia after the presentation to the British diplomats is given and they are on our side. There, we can plan and figure out how to save people, so we can save them from the government." Jacob finished explaining.

"Okay. That's fine with us, but we can't return to the Federation. That's out of the cards." Josh said.

"Yeah, it's out of the cards for us as well. So, what might happen is we conjure together a sterilization of some sort. We'll figure it out once we get to North Macedonia. Then we can finish up our original plan." Jacob responded.

"Let's do this." Kody said as the boys stood up.

"We'll see you all tomorrow at the meeting." Josh said as the boys began to leave.

We nodded and proceeded to have a somewhat normal evening of a breakfast casserole for dinner and some game show that was some good sup-par entertainment.
