"Wow, you look like shit," Lin states examining my overall appearance while setting her bag down.

It is Monday morning and that meant another day of baking. Although it's currently 4 am I have been baking since 2:30 this morning. I haven't been able to get a single hour of sleep since last night. After tossing and turning for 6 hours I gave up on the possibility of getting any shut-eye. And it didn't matter if my eyes were opened or closed, Kyle was there fogging my thoughts.

After Kyle declared what he wanted, he kissed me on the forehead, walked out of my house and locked the door behind him. I don't recall how long I stood in the kitchen in a total state of shock. He had left me there to absorb his words and instead of feeling content or thrilled, I was more confused than when I escaped from his room Sunday morning.

So many thoughts and questions linger through my mind and it was all Kyle's fault.

My eyes narrow with a glare. "Thanks for stating the obvious."

She chuckles cheekily. "So, what the heck happened?"

"Nothing," I mumble under my breath.

"Nothing? Sure, it's every day you come to work with messy hair, flush cheeks, and bloodshot eyes that makes it look like you haven't slept in a week. Of course, everything about you this morning is normal. Absolutely N. O. R. M. A. L, normal."

My glare deepens. "I always love how sarcastic you can be," I reply sarcastically myself. Picking up the full cookie sheet I place them into the oven before starting my next task, cherry turnovers.

Lin laughs and puts her apron on before trotting to where I stand. Reaching out she grabs the completed cherry filling I made thirty minutes ago and scoops a spoonful into each round dough I place in front of her. "It seems someone's not happy this morning either." Her eyebrows dip in question. "But really Vi, what's up? Is there something I should be concern about?"

I sigh concentrating on my dough. "No, it's just, I had a long and complicated weekend."

"Wow, that bad huh?"

"What?"

"Your date with Kyle," she answers. "This morning when I walked in I expected you to be glowing with happiness and dancing off the walls with bliss. I wasn't expecting," she scans me from head to toe, "this."

"No. The date was amazing and magical. It's what came after that caused me to look like this. The night after we...umm...you know..."

A loud thump from Lin causes my head to jerk in her direction. Her spoon now lays flat on the counter, cherry filling splattered against the surface. Her face is beaming and a knowing twinkle flash from her grey eyes. Before I can utter a word, she screams, "Kyahh, Vi, you had sex!"

My face flushes and I automatically glance towards the door. It's early morning and there is no one in the shop but I couldn't help but glance. "Shush," I cry, "you're too loud Lin. What if someone hears you."

"I don't care! Also, it's only the two of us here. Sophie doesn't arrive until six." Lin jumps up clapping and runs to me throwing her arms around my neck. "Yes, girl. Finally! I thought it would never happen." She dabs away her fake tears. "My baby's all grown up."

I snort nudging her shoulder. "Shut up. I'm older than you by a year."

Lin smirks. "Yeah, but not in sex years."

"If we're comparing sex years, then I'm a newborn baby while you're probably stuck in a nursing home by now."

"Oh, come on. You make me sound like I had hundreds of sexual partners. I'm no hoe."
