I stormed straight out of there and didn't stop walking, until I reached where I wanted to be, away from everybody.
My piece of cloth had been left back in the Training Arena, I hadn't bothered to pick it, which was really stupid of me. The wind blew a gentle breeze against my wound, it hurt so much, an dnot to mention the wind brought a chill as white flakes fell to the ground. By now I was slowly wandering through the forest, on my way to Thor knows where.
"Oh what am I gonna do? Hiccup is no longer a disappointment to the village and now I've for some reason taken over at that, I suck at Dragon Training, my own Mother hates me and everyone thinks I'm a wierdo! At least I've got Nifty, or, so to speak. I have no idea where he even is half the time!"
I walked into a tree because I wasn't looking where I was going, and just stood there hitting my head against it for ages. Things suck for me right now. What am I going to do? Because I really don't know how things could get any worse.
"Okay maybe I do know how things could get worse. I'm in the middle of the forest, have no clue where I am, it was getting dark, and, oh yeah, just to top it off it's snowing!'' screamed out. "Why does everything bad have to happen to me?"
Thor help me, I thought as I gripped the little charm of his hammer on my necklace. I was shivering, and walking in any direction, stumbling over a few times as light began to become limited. So eventually I got nowhere and it was now completely dark and freezing. Well done Flace.
I sat down on the cold ground, pulling my legs in and curling up into a ball, in a feeble attempt to keep myself warm. Tonight was going to be a very bad snow storm, why had I come out here and gotten myself lost?
The wind came harshly, whipping at my cheeks and my freezing bare arms with no restraint. I had no protection, nothing except the clothing I was wearing right now. My cloak was in my bedroom, and I hadn't thought of using it, because I honestly didn't know I was going to be stuck in the middle of a snow storm this bad.
I managed to crawl fowards slightly, dragging my legs through the layers of snow that were building up quickly, if I didn't move, I could be buried. But I just couldn't, it was too cold. Instead I just gave up and collapsed in the white snowflakes.

Warmth, that's what I felt at first, then confusion. I stirred, only to find myself in some dark place. No, it wasn't dark, it was night time, and by the looks of the horrizon it was only a few minutes away from sunrise.
I was lying on warm ground, a whole patch of green grass with not a snowflake touching me at all. Someone had cleared a patch of ground for me, and then kept me warm through the night and the storm.
Gentle flakes were still falling, but none on me. How was that possible? It was like a barrier was shielding me from them, and then I saw it. The white crystals hitting something clear, and I reached out to touch it.
My hand touched something soft, with texture too. I moved my hand down further, and my fingers felt...nostrills, flaring, and breathing? I jumped back, shuffling away from this thing. It suddenly became visible, not just a dragon, a Changewing.
This one had grown to nearly three times the size of its egg that I found in the river, it was now a very dark aqua colour, which stood out against all the white. The dragon moved foward, toward me before disappearing, turning a colour to blend with the snow.
I flinched when the dragon appeared, its eyes milimeters from mine. Then suddenly it turned and slunk off, and I followed it. The dragon was about the size of a lamb by now, pretty impressive seeming as though it only hatch not long ago.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked it when he disappeared into the bushes then came out to tug on the hem of my boot with his teeth. "Okay, I'm coming." I followed him for a while longer, down a steep slope in the forest and straight ahead, through the trees and past the large boulders.
A branch scraped along my burn, causing me to groan in agony and grip the raw skin to stop it from hurting. He didn't even stop
I comitted these to memory, just in case I might have to come back to where ever we were going sometime. Then I reaslised I didn't have to, we were finally here. Turns out, the place he was taking me was the clearing where I found him.
He ran to the cave, and I followed him through the large entrance only to find a nest at the back. Slowly turning in a few circles, he settled in among the dead leaves and stones before completely disappearing from sight.
''You are a special one, aren't you." I said, reaching out to stroke him, wherever he was. Before my hand reached him, he suddenly appeared a red colour, pressed against the wall and looked as if he might hiss at me. Then he was on my shoulder, staring at my skin that matched the crimson shade of his scales at the moment.
I flinched as he sniffed it, recognising the scent of his acid on my flesh. His tongue then gently slid along the raw wound, but I was surprised it didn't hurt me. Maybe his saliva could heal the wounds from his own acid?
When he stopped licking me, I examined the it, but it was still a red colour, and had no signs of healing anywhere. He then crawled across my shoulders and down my good arm, until he was on the stone floor again.
He surprised me by creeping up into my lap and curling into a ball. Why would he almost hiss at me just before, and now trust me to watch him sleep? I pulled him into my arms and hugged him to my chest, for some reason he felt precious to me. And so did this rare moment I didn't want to ruin.
His gentle snoring told me he was asleep, so I went to place him in the little nest he had made for himself, but stopped. It wasn't exactly the best I had seen, and it couldn't be comfortable, but I was proud of him for some reason.
"I don't see why Changewings are said to be vicious, because, they're not." I said to him. "I feel like there's something missing, but I can't put my finger on it, and it's been driving me insane!" I spoke to loudly this time, and woke him. He blinked, and looked at me, annoyed. "Sorry, it's just, what's missing?"
He looked thoughtful for a moment, then wrapped his tail around his neck. "What? A...noose? No, collar?" He shook his head "Good, because there is no way I'm putting a collar on a dragon! Especially you." He moved his tail so that the small tip of it hung down like a charm.
"Oooohhh! A name! I get it now, it was a collar, except collars have name tags on them. Well, do you have any suggestions?" I asked him. Apparentely, he had none. ''Well aren't you a great help? Okay, let's see what I can think of. How about...Blend?"
He seemed to think about it, then looked happy about the idea of his new name.
"Alright then Blend, I think I'm going to be staying here for another night," I said, walking out of the cave with him, "so, I'm going to need something to eat. And so are you."
The river was full of fish, but I had no idea how I was going to catch any. Blend crawled right to the edge, poising himself and disappearing against the bone coloured clay. Nothing happened, and I began to wonder if he was still there, when the glint of a fish's scales caught my eye.
Then there was a small splash and the fish was ensnared between tiny white jaws. Blend crawled out of the water, dropping his prey onto the white snow which he was now the exact shade of.
"Wow, well done. I guess being able to change colour really does help, doesn't it?" I said to him, before he dived in for another fish. I only ate one, but he greedily devoured a massive four, which was a lot for his size.
