"Do you remember that old abandoned building that we went to yesterday?" I ask her, trying to make conversation as we walk away from her house.
"Yeah. Let me guess, there's some secret ... I don't know. Never mind." She says to me. She looks tired. "Did you not get any sleep last night?" I ask. I didn't get any sleep last night. Don't judge, but I actually stayed up the whole night to. I was thinking about how we kissed and how free it felt.
More importantly how nervous I was or still am, and how she is going to react to what she will see today. She is a very chilled person and I haven't really seen her angry yet. Yes. I did just say yet. No offence. I'm sure that she can he angry, just hopefully not with me." Yeah, I'm actually kinda excited for today, so I didn't bother to try to sleep " she says to me as we walk slowly. I look back at her house, to the feeling of someone staring at you. Just as I thought. Michael. Giving me the stink eye. I quickly turn my attention back to Ashley. She is also looking at Michael, nodding her head from left to right. I think that he just hates my guts. I don't really care about that, but he makes life really awkward between Ashley and I when he's around."So this is the place" I say to her as we stop in front of the old building. "I'm sorry, I just don't understand. We ran through the building to the top and there was nothing in there." She said seeming to explain everything to herself and I. She's probably just really confused." Do you remember what you were saying earlier?" I ask her. She thinks for a while, trying to remember what she'd said. We haven't said anything much to each other so far. Maybe a few jokes were thrown around but it was nothing much of a conversation.
"Something about a secret - it's an underground secret layer, isn't it?" She asks me as we walk into the building.
"Yeah, good guess" I say to her, now smiling a little." It isn't really that much of a hidden layer though" I say as we walk down the stairs. Basically, you just walk down some stairs and here you are, standing in another room. No security, not even a door. I take two masks from a pile on the table near the entrance." Take this" I say as I hand one to her.
"Is this really necessary?" She asks me. "I don't know, they've just had it since I was a child" I say to her.
"So who are 'they' exactly?" She asks me. We walk into a larger room where people are training. There are people of many different age groups. They each had their own mats to fight on. Ashley walks right towards the middle of the room. I quickly follow behind her. "The room is very crowed" I say to her. She looks amazed at what she is seeing " would you like to go outside?" I whisper, as anyone could be listening. I'm not really supposed to be here."Yeah" She doesn't look at me while saying this. She's still looking at the room full of people, mainly towards the shirtless guys that are about our age, working out on the other side of the room, which I find uncomfortable. Thankfully she decides to stop looking at them and walks out of the room with me.She looks into my eyes for the hundredth time, but really, I think that she has to make up her mind on whether she wants those shirtless guys or me.
"They' are a group of spies that I used to be a part of" I explain to her.
"Why aren't you a spy anymore? It seems like such an interesting thing to do" she asks me, seeming to believe any word that I'd say. Imagine someone telling you that they're a spy and that you're also standing in a room full of them. It's weird and not really believable. Ashley really does amaze me sometimes. "I only found out a few days ago from Michael that they're actually the bad guys" I say. "They've just been pretending to be good. My mothers side of the family were all a part of this group of people, if you're wondering how I ended up here"
"So I'm guessing that Michael is one of the actual good people?" She guesses, trying to figure everything out. "Yeah. I've also just joined him on the good side and he...uh...he wants you to help us. Help us with training because you're really good at fighting and you apparently have your own after school club, if it's okay with you?" I say to her, not sure of her reaction.
"I'd really like to help you guys" she says, me just hoping that she doesn't wonder why her friends, that she lives with, couldn't ask her this themselves.
