Confusion -the act of confusing somebody or something.

| THE ALL KNOWING |

Elena stood dejectedly in front of the large bathroom mirror; her slender hands were tightly wrapped around the porcelain dip of the sink as she regulated her breathing. Uneasiness bubbled through her frantically; she had made an abrupt escape after the revelations whispered and her mind had turned into a bowl of puréed mush... There was a contradictory uncanny silence that lingered in the air, the lights appeared unbearably bright and absolutely nothing made sense in that moment.

Slowly, Elena raised her gaze to stare at herself in the mirror, the shaking of her cold body was evident but those minor details were entirely negligible in her eyes. She watched the small encasements of water slither down her face and instead of wiping them away she slowly raised the hem of her dress until the faint scars were apparent; the faint pink skin protruded from the uppermost area of her thighs. Gently, she ran her fingers over the small scars that were splayed haphazardly around the skin.

"Elena?" A voice snapped her out of her daze; she rapidly dropped the hem of her dress and shook her head. She had been persistent in telling everyone she had no intention of killing herself and she didn't but nobody believed her after the incident. Why would they? But Elena was certain she didn't want to put herself in that situation again.

The need to kill yourself is overwhelming and it claws away at a part of your heart that was buried a long time ago - the part of you that made you feel worthy. It was like a malicious disease that manipulated you into thinking in a certain way... It's constantly reminding you that you will never be good enough no matter how hard you try or crave to be, it convinces you that the only option life gives you, is the option to die.

"Elena, are you okay?" She heard Jake ask sceptically.

"Jake?" She panted realising he had entered the bathroom, a panic expression scrawled on his features and she knew what he was thinking. He thought Elena was crying.

"Are you okay? What happened?" He raised an eyebrow inquisitively before advancing toward her; Elena's eyes were a fraction wider than normal.

"I'm fine," Elena huffed, her heart ramming against her chest as if it were trying to escape - in that moment of time, she was grateful that the bathroom was so large.

"Why did you leave so suddenly? Surely Jayden couldn't have said anything to upset you," Jake furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Jayden hardly talks as it is; I was surprised he even wanted to dance with you!"

"Wow, thank you, you're really so flattering." Elena rolled her eyes and stumbled over the sentence, she tried immensely to focus on anything but the memories. After a pregnant pause, Jake pulled Elena into a comforting hug.

"So why did you run off butterfly?" He questioned, his lips curling into a slight pout and Elena had to close her eyes in order to regain her serene composure.

"I w-wa-" Elena panicked her back hitting the wall whilst she thought carefully about her next sentence.

"Elenaphant, Hero is here, he told me to tell you to go and meet him out front!" A relieved sigh parted Elena's lips when Elliot interrupted the up and coming investigation.

"I'll be two seconds," she smiled softly before making her way towards the towel rack and patting her face dry. After a few seemingly lengthy seconds she walked past Jake and dismissed the conversation. "I'll meet you outside in a few minutes." Elena informed before latching onto Elliot's arm and following him out.

A beaming Elena paced towards the brooding figure as quickly as her large heels would allow her.

"Hero!" She squealed happily at one of her beloved best friends, he sent her a lopsided smirk in return and his clear blue eyes glistened mischievously under the dimming sun light.

"Nela," he cooed using the childhood nickname that she was accustomed to and unconsciously a grin tugged at her lips once she enveloped him in a hug. He gently raised her of the ground and spun her around slightly so that she was now facing the house she just exited.

"I'm so glad you made it Hero," Elena grinned, she hadn't spoken with him in a few long weeks and she was beyond delighted that he had turned up and agreed to stay around hers for them to have a much needed catch up.

"Hero?" Jake's raspy, recognisable voice interrupted curiously with a questioning tone.

"This is Hero, one of my best friends," she edified and nudged Hero to turn around.

"Hero Lawton, it's nice to meet you." He introduced himself with a friendly smile and finally turned around.

"Craig?" Jake seethed angrily when he inspected Elena's friend, his eyes glazed over with pure hatred in a matter of seconds and before either of them knew what was happened, Jake's arm had raised and he slammed his enclosed fist into his face. All the anger that was bubbling inside of Jake was released onto the unsuspecting guest and Elena's lips parted in shock.

"What are you doing? Who's Craig?" She howled in sheer confusion at the display.

"You should stay away from him," Jake advised and attempted to near the injured Hero.

"No! You should stay away from him." Elena growled and latched onto Jake's arm to stop from any subsequent actions.

"Don't you get it, it's all his fault," Jake panted, his chest rising and falling rapidly in white hot anger.

"Look I'm sorry if I've done anything to offend you but-" Hero started trying to forget the sudden attack, fighting wasn't going to solve anything and Elena was relieved Hero hadn't acted upon the trigger.

"He's no Hero, Craig's the reason Gabriella's in a coma!" Jake growled with pure venom.

"Gabriella?"

"Craig?"

"Jake?"

It was all a mass of confusion as the voices bundled over each other, what on earth was going on?
