Nervous jitters

I leave for London in just 2 days. I'm feeling so many different emotions. On one side, I'm so excited and can't wait to adventure all of London with Tom but the other side is I'm nervous as hell to meet more of Tom's family like his grandparents and he even mentioned maybe meeting some of his cousins at a get together that we'll be going to. I want them to like me, obviously. The family that I have met seem to like me so that's something.

I walk downstairs to find Darnell and it's a few days after Christmas and he just got back from visiting with his family. It's nice to have him back, I don't like sleeping by myself in the house so my niece Zink spent has been staying with me. I want her to move in if I'm honest.

"Well well well. Look who's back"

"I'm trip was good, thanks for asking" smile on his face

We both laugh "I'm sorry how was your Christmas?"

"So great" he says all sarcastic. We laugh.

"I need your help. I need to get Tom a gift for Christmas and we only have 2 days to find it. I need some serious help"

Tom and I decided to do our gift exchange in London. We didn't have time when he was here to go gift shopping before Christmas, we were busy doing "other things".

"Okay let me think. I have a few ideas actually" he tells me and I can't be more happy because I got nothing.

"Let's here 'em" I sit down at my kitchen table, giving him my full attention.

"First idea. Do something like a strip tease or ooh tie him up. Some guys like that"

"No. Not happening. Next" I jot down, in my head, the first one of the two for another time.

"Okay I knew you'd say that. Second idea. Jewelry"

"Okay. Keep talking"

"Why not get your jeweler friend who makes those message in a bottle necklaces to make him one. Boom! Thoughtful, sweet and guaranteed to get you laid"

"This is why they pay you the big bucks. Thank you!" With that I get up and leave, I have some phone calls to make.

"Wait no one pays me the big bucks!" He yells after me

I laugh "Well they should!"

I've been on the phone with this jeweler for over an hour going over exactly what I want, what hidden picture I want in the necklace, how I'm going to need it shipped to London ASAP. It's a lot to say the least. I finally end the call and it's perfect, it'll get there a day or two after I arrive and it's going to be perfect.

It's now the night before I leave and I'm packing in my closet, on the floor, like I do. I'm on the phone with Tom, he's on FaceTime. It's like 6am in London but he's surprisingly up because he had a very early workout.

"Do you think I'll need rain boots? Because I can pack those, I have two pairs" I hold them up for him to see.

"I think you'll be alright babe. Why are you so stressed?" How can he tell?

"I just want to make sure I have everything I need but also I'm nervous to see all of your family and friends"

"You don't need to be nervous about that. Everyone loves you"

"Still nervous but it's fine. I'm excited to see you though" I tell him

"I can't wait to see you. I have a surprise day planned for us when your here"

"Hmm what are you up too sneaky man?"

"You'll see" he laughs

I laugh too "Okay well I'm gonna go to bed soon. I guess I'll see you tomorrow when I land "

"Yes call me when you land. I'll be picking you up"

"Okay I will"

"I love you and don't be stressed, it's gonna be a good trip. I promise." He tells me

"Okay. I love you too bye babe"

With that I hang up. I am packing the last bit of clothes when my niece Zink walks in through the door.

"You're still packing?" She asks me

"Yeah I'm kind of stressed since you're not coming anymore. You would've been a great buffer" she has a very promising job interview that she can't miss

"I know, I'm bummed I can't go anymore. I better get this job, because I gave up a trip to London for it"

"I know and I'm so excited for you! You'll get it!"

"I thought Darnell was going?" She says.

"No, I gave him the week off. He's going on a romantic getaway with his new boyfriend" I tell her

"Well you'll be fine. You're just over thinking it just be yourself. They'll love you"

"Yeah. I'm gonna just stop thinking about it"

"Good. Now do you need help packing?" She looks around sand sees how chaotic everything is on my closet floor.

"Yes please" I practically beg

We pack for another hour until I feel I'm fully ready for any weather London brings and then head to bed. I have a very early morning flight.

I just landed in London and I have butterflies mixed with wanting to throw up.  I'm so nervous. I called Tom and he said he's outside, waiting. I run to the ladies room to freshen up. The flight was long and I slept most of the time but I let my hair down, apply some lipgloss and I'm good to go.

I walk outside and see Tom's Audi. His windows are extremely tinted I almost didn't recognize him. He sees me and pops the truck, I put my suitcases in the back and hop in the car.

"Hi" I say and lean over the center console to hug him "I missed you" I whisper in his ear.

He pulls away "I missed you too baby" he tells me and grabs both sides of my face and kisses me. I kiss him back before we're rudely interrupted by someone honking at us for us to move it breaks up our kiss. Damn that person I think in my head.

"I hope you sept on the plane because I have a day planned for us" he's tells me. He's like a kid on Christmas, his excitement is contagious.

"Oh I'm ready" I tell him. He reaches over and squeezes my thigh. I put my hand over his. All of the nervousness kind of melts away, I'm here with Tom and that's all that matters.
