(Y/n's POV)
Jungkook: "Getting started early?" Jungkook's voice ran through my thoughts as I read over Namjoon's text again.
Y/n: "Something like that." I sighed, feeling the ache in my chest again. "My boss wants some coffee."
Jungkook: "He doesn't get it for himself? Or is office coffee too good for him?"
Y/n: "He loves Starbucks. Since I mentioned once that I liked to stop there in the mornings before work, he now asks me to get him something." Jungkook drank the last bit of the coffee I had made this morning, then walked beside me.
Jungkook: "But, didn't you just have some with me?" I nodded.
Y/n: "Yes, but I go anyways and get him something. I usually just grab an extra empty cup and fill it up at work to make it seem like I got something as well." I chuckled at how ridiculous it sounded. Damn, the things I went through because I loved Namjoon. I watched and followed Jungkook as he went to the front door and unlocked it.
Jungkook: "You're not too fond of Starbucks, then?" He chuckled as well, seeing the humour in it. I frowned.
Y/n: "I can't afford to buy two drinks each time." He stopped and turned to look me in the eyes. I waited for Jungkook to mock me since he had the money to burn, but he didn't. He just reached into his pocket and pulled out the card that I just returned and held it out.
Jungkook: "Why don't you hold onto this for now. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to use it." I shook my head.
Y/n: "No, that's okay. I don't want to use you." I tried to reject it politely. Jungkook's face though didn't show pity, but revealed that it...wanted to help?
Jungkook: "It's not using me, Y/n..." his deep voice finally spoke the name I usually go by. It sounded good coming from him...more than usual. "I have others on me, so don't worry about me. You don't have to use it, but if you end up needing something, I want to make sure you have a backup." I felt my will power fade as I stood before this intimidating man. It's funny though...the more time I spend around him, I find him to be less and less intimidating. Finally, I reached up and took the small card from him and tucked it into my purse.
Y/n: "Thank you."
The door chirped as I opened it and the aroma of coffee beans hit my nose in an instant. My eyes travelled to the barista waiting for me to walk up and order.
Barista: Hello, what may I get started for you?" she asked, as I sat my purse on top of the counter.
Y/n: "Hello, can I get a double shot, non-fat, Caramel Macchiato?"
Barista: "Of course! Would you like anything else?" I opened my wallet, about to tell her no when I saw Jungkook's card resting nicely in a slot. I gulped hard and thought carefully. Was it that bad to use what Jungkook had so willingly given? Tempted, I reached for it but stopped myself short and grabbed the cash I had.
Y/n: "No, that's all I want, thank you. May I have an empty cup on the side though?"
Barista: "Sure." She smiled. I handed her the cash and she handed me back the change after a moment. I couldn't get in the habit of relying on Jungkook for things. He wasn't my husband in every sense of the word, and I wouldn't use him like that. That was wrong, and I was going to do my best to be good to him since he's been nothing but good to me.
My heart was beating fast. I felt like I was going to be sick. I had to take a deep breath to steady myself as I opened the door to Namjoon's office. He was talking on the phone in his chair with his back on me. I walked up and sat his coffee down on his desk. A sudden whiff of his cologne hit me and I tried to keep back the urge to embrace it like I always had. Without a word, I turned and headed back for the door before he saw me-
Namjoon: "Y/n?" I froze. My hands were already touching the door to go back to my desk. I gently touched the glass, still debating to turn around or not. He was busy, right? I should just go- "Are you not talking to me, now?" I felt tears threaten again, but I would not cry here and in front of him, never. I steadied myself and turned around to face him.
Y/n: "I'm sorry, I thought still on the phone with Mr.Hanbin. Good morning." I said in my best professional voice. Yes, I would have to block everything off and just be professional, since I was only his assistant.
Namjoon: "Is...there something going on that I don't know about? Between us, I mean." His voice came out smooth, but I could hear the worry in his voice. He had already made it clear where I stood.
Y/n: "I don't understand what you're talking about." I played dumb. He rose to his feet and his more slender form came around his desk, towards me. My heart pounded faster. Not being able to move, regrettably, he made it so that he was standing right in front of me.
Namjoon: "I know I hurt our friendshipby keeping my dating and engagement from you...and for that, I'm truly sorry." He cleared his throat. "I already miss the friendship we had though, and...is there any way to just...go back to normal?" As much as I wanted to say yes, my heart wouldn't allow me to.
Y/n: "I'm sorry...but no." I couldn't bear to look at him for another moment. "I have a lot of work to do, Mr.Kim." I could see his hand reach out for me from the corner of my eyes.
Namjoon: "Y/n..."
Y/n: "You have a 9:30 meeting with Crosby Co. I'll get everything ready for it." I turned so he didn't have time to touch me and went to my own desk.
