Happy holidays. Happy New Year. Here's an extra chapter. You're welcome.

I groaned, laying as far back onto the edge of the couch as I could reach.
"Something wrong?" Tom appeared from behind the cushions and positioned himself under my feet. His hand found mine and locked fingers.
"I don't wanna go to work," I complained like a child. Since filming was over, I was set to find a new job. The change in scenery bothered me because it would separate Tom and I for quite some time, and with a new relationship, I knew it wouldn't work out too well. He took a couple months off to help me find a new job, surprisingly. I now work as a secretary for a local business and it was an absolute drag.
He chuckled, pulling me up from my position and planting a light kiss on my forehead, "Sorry, love. I can meet you for lunch later if you want." He offered.
"Please. Nothing against you, but really I would jump at anything to get me off work right now." I leaned into his broad chest, listening as it rose and fell with his breathing. "I also told Emily that'd I'd volunteer with her at the food drive. So my night is booked."
His chin rested on top of my head as he listened patiently to my complaints. "It'll work out, Joan. I promise." He gave my hand a small squeeze before he said, "I have to go get ready for my job." He beamed, adjusting me off his lap and standing.
I looked up, realizing he was still in his pajamas. "You should be there by now actually," I glanced at the clock on the wall. His eyes followed mine, and his face instantly broke when he saw the time.
Mumbling something under his breath, Tom took off to the room to change. I giggled slightly at the sight. He could be such a dork sometimes and I found that attractive.
We had been dating for a solid three years now and had moved in together. Emily was right, that day in the trailer, when she said he liked me. I'm glad I actually listened. Her relationship with Chris, though, was not so lucky. Like Tom and I, their careers took them to separate places.
She ended up as a make-up artist for the "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, which she was really excited for. But Chris was set on staying in the area, and maybe laying low for a while. It was upsetting, really, to see them grow apart, but they seemed to have coped well. And the upcoming Avengers movie should bring everyone back together eventually.
I got up and headed towards the door, grabbing my purse and keys before leaving. "Bye, Tom!" I called into the apartment, knowing that he probably wouldn't hear me anyways.
The day dragged on. I would answer a call, walk a client through an issue, hang up and start again. It was not as fun as hanging around a cast like on set, but it paid bills. After lunch with Tom, and a few hours after, my day was finally over.
My timer went off and I popped up from my chair, snatching my stuff off my desk, and racing out the door. Snow was drifting onto the concrete, signaling winter officially. I tucked my hands under my arms and hurried to familiar navy car sitting idle outside the building. I tapped on its tinted glass and it rolled down on cue.
"Emily!" I exclaimed.
"Hey, you!" The doors unlocked and I got in.
"So where's this volunteer work?"
"Up the city a little ways." She leaned over, trying to get a better view of the street signs as we rolled away. "So how are you and Tom?" She asked eagerly. It had been some time since we had last seen each other in person.
"Pretty good! Things are getting pretty serious!" I beamed proudly, "How've you been?"
"Oh pretty good. But I did get a boyfriend!" Emily squealed excitedly.
