2. Annabeth

I heard the explosion and waited, face down, for the rubble to rain down on us but it never did.
I looked up to find confetti raining down. Multi colored confetti.
"What in Hades" I muttered
Percy shared a glance with me and we stood together.
"Oracle" he said "what is this"
I knew Barbara was scared I could hear it in her voice.
"He escaped" she murmured "he's already escaped"
"Who" Percy asked
"The Joker" I muttered
As if on que the screens in a nearby TV shop turned on and our earpiece went to static.
A second later the Joker appeared on the screen and I hear his voice in my earpiece.
"Good evening Gotham City!"
"Oracle" I said "get a tracker"
"I hope you liked my gift" The Joker continued "there's plenty more where that came from"
In the distance I heard another explosion and this time saw smoke billow up.
"Have fun Gotham" Joker said
"Oracle" I said "do you have a tracker?"
"Almost" she said "got it. I'll send you the coordinates. Be careful"
"Never" Percy said

The coordinates took us to an empty field. On one side of it was a row of trees blowing in the cold winter air. Our feet crunched as we stepped on a patch of snow.
"There's nothing here" Percy said
"Oh how wrong you are" he laughed
Melting from the shadows the Joker and four men in clown masks appeared. "So now the Bat is too good for me?"
"Joker" Percy called "what are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to have a little new year's party" he said
"Well you're about a week late" Percy called
"Oh? Why could that be? Maybe because some Bat and his Brats locked me up" he yelled "still thought I'd have some fun. Too bad the circus isn't in town though"
"Annabeth!" Barbara yelled "duck"
I crouched into a duck just as the axe whirled over my head.
I kicked out with my right leg attempting to sweep her legs from under her.
She cartwheeled back
"Harley" I breathed "you're awfully quiet. What's wrong?"
"Just focusin' on killin' you" she said jumping forward again.
I dodged and reached for a disk but she was fast and slashed at me again.
"Mister J promised me a diamond ring for Christmas" she said "but you sent him away. So now, once I'm through with killin' you I can finally get that ring"
"Too bad you won't ever get the chance to kill me" I said "unless you can do it from your prison cell"
She chopped down with her axe and I used the opportunity to throw a disk on her shoulder.
"What the"
I grinned and clenched my fist. She dropped the axe but one of the guys in the clown masks started forward with his rifle. He tried to get braced and aim at me but I threw a batarang in his direction. It caught the barrel of his rifle and sent it flying.
"Robin, Paladin" Bruce's voice barked "get out of here"
"Yeah not a chance"
"The big bad Bat!" Joker giggled "perfect timing"
"Joker" Bruce growled "what are you doing?"
"Celebrating the new year" he laughed "with a bang"
Again another explosion.
"Robin" Bruce said "take care of Harley. I'll get the Joker"
"And I'll just stand here?" I asked
"No" Bruce said "you'll get out of the way"
"Annabeth" Babs said "go check the bombs. See if you can help"
"Fine" I said still glaring at Bruce as he ran at the Joker

The fight didn't go well. Or at least that's what I assumed when Bruce and Percy came into the cave cut up and bruised. I was at the computer monitoring when they came in. Bruce said nothing and went right to his study.
"They got away" Percy muttered "how'd damage control go?"
"Fine" I said typing a code into the computer. "Harley said Joker was going to get her Diamond ring"
"What does that have to do with anything?" Percy asked
"Well if that's true it's logical to assume that they'll be robbing some jewelry store so-"
"Percy put your cowl back on" Bruce said "the jewelry store in downtown was just robbed. It was the Joker, let's go"
I stood to go with them.
"Annabeth there's a drug deal on the north side of town. I sent Cass there. You should meet up with her"
"Fine" I said
Percy gave me an apologetic look and said. "I'll talk to him"
"Not like it will help" I muttered

I found Cass at the docks. She was on the roof of a storage unit and only glanced when she saw me.
"What are we looking at?" I asked
"Twenty" she said indicating below. There were twenty men all of which were heavily armed.
"I saw about a dozen on the way in" I said
"No problem" she said
"I'll go left you take right?" I asked
She nodded and signed with her hands.
"I'll be careful" I said nodding "lets go"
I traced my first targets starting in the back. The two men with the biggest guns. I knocked them out and ducked into the shadows.
The next couple were a little harder but I wasn't noticed, that is until one of the goons I attacked cried out.
The first one to see me was a tall blonde woman. She immediately fired her rifle in my direction but I faded into the shadows running along as the bullets followed. Finally I got a good shot and tossed a disk at her. It landed just above her elbow and I clenched my fist.
Meanwhile Cass had taken out the other half and was busy dodging fistfuls of bullets being fired at her.
I flipped out a batarang knocking two handguns from my attackers hands the I grappled to the top the the storage unit.
"You can't kill two little girls?!" I heard a man shout "just shoot them and be done with it!"
Apparently those words were encouragement enough to redouble their efforts.
The next couple of men were harder to take out and a bullet did graze my shoulder but my suit kept me from really being hurt.
"Batgirl" I called "the cops are almost here. Time to go"
"Coming" she called following me as I grappled up again. I survaied the scene below us again.
This time about thirty men and women lay unconscious or injured just waiting for the police.
