12. Annabeth

I grabbed my gloves and ran out the door. I sprinted towards Barbara's while trying to contact anyone I could.
"Dick" I said "hurry up I need help"
"Why are you looking for Dick?" Bruce's voice came over the mic.
"Just put him on"
"I can't because he's not at the manor" Bruce said "now why do you need Dick?"
"Nevermind I'll find Barbara"
"You're going after Percy aren't you?" He asked
I frowned "no-"
"I can help you" he said
"I don't need help..."
"I just want to save Percy. You could use the help"
I clenched my jaw. If I asked for help I'd never hear the end of it. But I needed to save Percy.
"Fine" I said "get Cass and meet me at the docks as soon as you can. And we do this my way."
"I'll listen to your plan but if there's a better way to save my son....I'll do whatever I can"
"Trust me, me too"

Five minutes later I finally got a hold of Artemis, Dinah, and Barbara who met me, Bruce, Dick, and Cass at the docks.
Percy had told me wearhouse B but when we broke down the door there was no sign of anyone.
"There's no one here" Artemis pointed out
"So ive noted" Bruce growled
"Barbara do you have anything" Dinah asked
"Not really" she said "take a look around and I'll see if I can find anything underground"
"Alright let's split up." I said "there has to be something here"
I went to the far right side while the others spread out across the building.
It didn't take long for me to search the ground and the walls and find nothing.
"Barbara do you have anything yet?" I asked
"No" she answered
"Ugh"
"Annabeth I'm trying!" She said "I want them safe as much as you do!"
"I know" I said kicking a crate.
Thunk
It was hallow.
I kicked it again. There was nothing inside. I drew my dagger and pried the top off. Inside was straw. I dug through it and found nothing. I was right.
I check the others around and found the same thing.
"Why would they have a shipment set to leave tomorrow have nothing inside?" I asked "check the crates tell me if you find anything inside"
I called out to everyone.
I didn't get any response.
"I found something" Barbara said
"Where?" Bruce asked
"Under about twenty feet. There's a tunnel system. I'm getting multiple heat signatures and I have a very quiet distress call from Percy's ring. Or at least I think it's his ring."
"Is there an entrance near by?" Bruce asked
"Found one" Cass said from across the wearhouse
"Where?" Artemis asked when we got over there. It was by the door and Cass was looking at us like we were insane for not noticing.
"Here" she said flipping the lightswich  on the wall.
Nothing happened.
"Nice" I said
"Wait" she called
Then slowly the ground and wall came apart revealing a stair case.
"That's sick" Dick said "Bruce how bout we get one of these for the Batcave"
"Maybe later" Bruce responded stepping onto the first stair "right now we don't have time for this"
We started down the stairs slowly, Bruce was leading us and I took up the rear along with Dinah.
"Annabeth"
"Uh...Dinah?" I responded
"Barbara told me she gave you my number and I missed a call from Gotham the other day. That didn't happen to be you?"
"Um...it was" I turned away a little
"Do you need to talk?" She asked
I turned again. Her eyes were laced with concern like everyone else's always were.
"Now really isn't the time" I said
"I know you-"
"Stop" I said
"Are you-"
"No Bruce stop!" I hissed jumping froward grabbing his shoulder, knocking down Dick in the process.
"What?" He asked
"Just wait!"
"We don't have time for this" he said starting forward
"Stop" I said "stop for two seconds and look around you. You always tell us to look at our surroundings and then you're to distracted to notice the trip-wire!"
I immediately looked down and I knew he saw it. Without saying a word and a glare back in my direction he stepped over it.
"Thanks Annabeth" I muttered "oh yeah no problem Bruce"
He continued walking "you might not have told everyone else what happened those weeks you were gone. But I know. I've done my research on you Annabeth, I know the league, I know what they can do, and I know you probably better than you know yourself"
"You don't know anything" I said "if you 'know the league' then you know that they wouldn't just give that info away"
I saw a flash of a memory
"I'm the only one that knows what I've been through. No one can I say 'i know how you feel' because I'm the only one who knows what I went through and what I felt, I'm the only one that was there" I took a breath as memories flashed across my head. I saw Talia, her face was curled in a smirk as she rained down blows.
"Annabeth-" Barbara started
"Don't Barb, not right now" I said before reaching up, turning off my earpiece and shoving past Bruce.
I walked a little further ahead and made it to the bottom of the stairs by the time Cass caught up with me.
"I know them" Cass said "and you aren't one of them"
"Tell that to Bruce" I said
"He's scared" she said
"So he takes it out on me?" I asked
"Just...keep strong" she said and she looked like she was searching for a word. "C....coura...."
"Courage?" I asked
"Yeah that"
I sighed
"Anna-"
"How bout we talk about this later Batgirl" I said "right now we need to save Percy"
She grabbed my hand. "Together"
I nodded, and together we pushed open the door.

"Alright, me and Batgirl will go straight, Artemis, and Nightwing you guys take the right, Batman and Canary take the left" I said
"Radio if you find anything" Artemis said
"Let's go Batgirl"
It only took us about thirty seconds before running into our first hurtle.
There were about five men in front of us. All were clad in black and wore guns at their belts. With a small nod Cass and I jumped into action.
"Hey!" The first guy yelled
The others turned as Cass knocked him out.
I sighed and threw a batarang hitting another in the head knocking him unconscious.
"We need back up-" the man started before grunting and falling to the ground.
I looked around "Cass that wasn't you was it" I dove at the other one taking only one blow and knocking him down.
Cass had taken care of the other.
From behind them emerged another guard.
"Hey" he said I saw a smile under his mask he wore and he stepped towards us.
I swung a punch at him landing it on his chest.
"Ow" he groaned "thanks Wise Girl"
"Wise girl?" I asked
"What you didn't recognize me" he pulled off the mask and grinned at me.
His hair was sticking up in all directions and he wore bruises on his face but his sea-green eyes were still bright, like they always were.
I smiled at him and tackled him into a hug.
"Seaweed brain" I said "I missed you"
"I missed you too Annabeth" he said "and I uh..."
"Guys" Cass said "someone's coming"
