The throne room where my only sister and I was currently at was nothing to fancy but it was nothing too bland either. It had been four long years since the infection that killed every adult in the world. Krul and every vampire had saved the children under thirteen but, in return, they had to be a vampires food source.

I sigh, leaning my head on Krul's lap. My red eyes close, but my pale face never seems to show a smile at the peaceful feeling the creeps up in me.

I hate vampires. Every single one of them, but I can't seem to hate my older sister. She was always there for me; she helps me in dire situations, protects me, takes care of me. It was like I was actually her daughter instead of her sister. It felt nice knowing I had someone to lean/depend on. Krul strokes my somehow natural red to orange to yellow hair. In four years, it had grown long enough to touch my waist. Against what Krul had wished, I never let her cut it because I wanted to look like her. She was so pretty. The only thing I allowed her to cut was my bangs so I looked like with but with my hair down.

No human children suspected a thing because of the lies I came up with. I was a pretty good liar so that Akane or anyone else never suspected a thing. Not even Mikaela or Yuichiro noticed a thing. All I would have to say to either of them was that I gave some of my blood for the queen to cut my hair like hers. Of course, Yuichiro yells at me for doing such a thing while Mikaela started doing it with Ferid. He would donate his blood to get money from the noble. What he does with the money or while he's at Ferid is beyond me.

Of course, I also wore their clothes much to every vampires dismay. Krul starts to hum a small tune causing me to let out a smile.

"Krul," I whisper.

"Yes, my darling precious sister?" She stops petting my hair. I look up, staring into her red eyes. I hug her tightly around the neck.

"I love you," my face lays on her shoulder. She giggles, placing her face in the crook of my neck. Her arms wrap around my body, her hands were placed firmly on my back, holding me close to her.

"I love you too sister," she pulls away. "But, if you wish to keep your identity as human and not vampire, please, you must go. I'll see you tomorrow." I pull away, about to protest.

"I can sneak out at night to see you-" she cuts me off with a glare.

"No, Ferid has something up his sleeve so I have to figure out what it is," her eyes soften up a bit. "Take care of those humans you hold so dearly to your heart." I bit my lip, nodding my head. I hold on to every word that comes out if her mouth. Her soft, velvety voice makes it hard not to ignore her when she's talking.

"Of course, big sis," I agree. I stand up, dusting any dirt that was on my outfit off. Turning around, I start to walk away. When I got to the door, she calls out to me.

"And remember, keep your mouth shut or else your fangs will show!" She reminds me. I nod my head, leaving her sight.

Wandering down the halls, I paused to look at everything that was on the walls. I did the every single day, every single time I was coming to and from Krul Tepes room. I could imagine every single detail on the paintings that hung on the wall, answer every question perfectly about every hallway in the castle of vampires, and tell you every single hidden passage way that no one- not even the vampires- knew about.

So, why haven't I left the vampires hold?

The answer was simple. I didn't have to dig very far to find it. Answer one- the more dominant one- was that I never wanted to leave my sister. In those four years, I have found a whole lot about her. We were closer than me and my mother were. Answer number two was because I didn't want to leave my friends behind. They mean so much to me, it would hurt me deeply if anything were to ever happen to them.
