"Don't die." Alice says and leans against the door. She pulls out one of the many daggers and began tossing it in the air and catching it.
I stood there confused as we took the final step from the wooden stairs to an actual dungeon. The walls are made of stone, the floor is thick dirty concrete. It was just one long hallway, with multiple inch and a half thick barred cages.
The cone light fixture hung low. The dull yellow light coming from them seem to be fading and in need of replacing.
The faint sounds of coughing and chains bring dragged eoched.
"Are you going to move, princess." Alice says.
Taking a deep breath I match down the dank dungeon. The air seems to have gotten colder the further I went down. And it was. The floor was wet, and the walls stored with condensation.
The further I went the more the chains moved. They tossed and turned. They shuffled. And stopped.
Turning to my left I see Stephan, barely sitting up against the wall. Under the orange glow, his bare chest glisten with sweat. His chest moving very minimal as his breath became ragged.
Across his chest was Haley's mark. And down his left side was emmie's and i's Mark. And smack dab in the middle of his chest is a scar that's about the size of his chest. It didn't look like it healed properly by the color and how puffy and veiny.
His eyes and veins around his neck till black and thick.
"You," he huffs. "Came…"
I nod and step in front of the bars. Grabbing them I lean my head against the cold metal. "You said you wanted to talk, so I came."
"Come in…" he gestures toward his legs that had chains on them. "I can't hurt you. The chains are engraved so I can't get up."
Looking down at Alice she was still leaning there, tossing her knives still.
Looking at the door I grabbed it and pulled it open. My gut still trust him for some reason, but my brain was telling me not too.
Taking a step in I keep the cell door open and stand in the doorway.
He tries to pull himself up but he groans. "Forgive me, I can't greet you properly."
"What did you want to talk about?" I snap and cross my arms.
He smiles revealing his lethal fangs. "I'm a dying man, Princess," he rolls his head at me. "You look like your father. Both of you."
"I'm leaving." I turn to leave but he stops me.
"Wait. Wait… I do have something important."
I look at him from over my shoulder. Waiting for him.
But instead of speaking he pulls himself up. Digging his fingers in the grooves of the stone, using all the strength he can gather to pull himself up.
After a couple minutes he got up and looked aft me huffing. "I wanted to tell you, and only you why I did it."
"Proceed." I say and face him.
"Alice. Needs to leave. She can hear us."
I look at him like he was an idiot. But when I look back at the exit, Alice was gone.
Slowly I turn my head to him and he smiles. "You have read some of our history right? How your someone in your line turned us? Well," he gestures for me to sit I the Maggie shift bed against the wall.
I slowly walk over and sit on the furthest corner I could.
"We were a thriving race because of this. Most of out coven turned into vampires and we were powerful. We led the world without humans knowing. And your family couldn't be prouder. Seeing as their 'children' grew and populated more and more."
"But-" he says dryly. "When we came, the hunters came. They didn't know their purpose, or what they were for a long time. They were legends to humans, as we were the silent predator. Humans saw them as a gift from the gods. Others labeled them as wolfman."
Narrowing my eyes he held up his hand. "And centuries later our race met and immediately knew the threat of one another. And for decades, as long as I can remember, we fought. For reasons we don't know."
"This has nothing to do with me." I stand up. "Get to the point."
Stephan nods. "We are the only creatures that can tap into our ancestors powers. And the hunters learned how to do what they call druid craft. And-" abruptly he began to cough. Heaving and stumbled to his knees.
I walk over and put my hand on his grimmy back. "Stephan?" I began to panic. The only person I know that can help up is dying and I can feel it. I can sense it as the room got colder.
Leaning down to help him up the sound of the door being kicked open hulted me.
With one swift movement, Stephan looked up at me and scraped his hand cross the stone, and tackled me to the ground. Shoving his hand in my mouth I fought.
Screaming and kicking my legs I fought.
"Quit moving!" He hisses and tenses his hand, forcing blood to come out.
Thick, cold tar came rolling down my throat and tears rolled down my face.
"This craft." He sighs, the color returning to his form. "Is supposed to end our race. I tried to help them. Kill the Dragomir family, seeing how they have the power to stop it." His eyes return to normal and he smiles. "But the curse started on you. And you are the vampire slayer."
My limps went numb and my vision faded.
"They wanted me to find you. So they can use you." He stands up and the sound of footsteps came running toward us. "She's alive." He says.
Animalistic growls came from behind me, but I couldn't move to see. I became too tired to pay attention.
My eyes slowly closed, but I fought against it.
Stephan looks at me and smiles. "See You soon, slayer."
