Four years ago...

When Prince Remington woke up to the 21st year of his life, he was even more depressed than before. He knew very well that he was now eligible to court and marry any available and eligible fair maiden and mistress in his social class.

By the time he was 16, the girls were already staring to line up at his door to be his. Now and then, he courted a few to try to get to know them better, but he wouldn't stop think about that girl who saved his life as a boy and stole his heart with her smile. Because of this, he made many ladies unhappy and unsatisfied and decided not to see anyone else for a long time to save any more hearts getting broken.

The night of his birthday, Prince Remington drowned his sorrows in wine and liquor and traveled far away from his home to try to distract his mind from what was to come for his future. He didn't feel so good about having things being determined for him now that he was 21. He couldn't bear the thought that he might live his life without love.

He ended up getting lost and stumbled across a poor and local brothel far from the kingdom. He entered inside and fell onto the floor intoxicated and unable to function properly. Not knowing who he was, the head of the brothel wanted to kick him out, but their most popular girl named Cora volunteered to sober him up and charge him for her service.

While in Cora's room, Remington kept mumbling about a raven-haired girl with a scar on her eye who saved his life as a boy and how he would give anything to see her again and let her know he's more than grateful for her. He was in love with her.

Cora was moved by this boy's strong and intense desire to be reunited with his true love and savior. She never believed men had hearts and just wanted to feel passionate, but not love. She noticed how he was wearing  the royal seal of Palaye Royale on his jacket and realized he was a prince.

Before she could confirm, he passed out on her bed and she left him to spend the night there until she would take him back home. She rested close to his side, slightly admiring his gentle face as he dreamed of the girl he loved as a child and wondering if he would ever be reunited with her and hoping no matter what, he would end up happy and loved.

The next morning, she woke up alone on the bed and found note on her bedstand along with some money. She read the note and smiled as the note changed her view on men and restored her faith in true love.

Dear kind and sweet miss,

I am sorry to leave so soon and not properly say thank you or goodbye. I apologize deeply for the intrusion in your workplace, and I left you some money so your boss wouldn't get upset at you for taking care of me for free. If I said anything weird because I was drunk and intoxicated, please dismiss it and continue living normally. It is most likely you'll never see me again to keep each other safe from judgment, but if you do, I promise to properly thank you for keeping me company and helping me feel high at my lowest point. I wish you good luck in your life and I hope you know you're more than what most people may think you are.

A thousand thank yous,
Remington Leith
