Three months later...
Remington's POV
Ever since Dahlia accepted my proposal to get married, I've never been more happy in my life to finally be reunited with the girl who saved my life and I can return the favor by taking care of her for the rest of her life. Dahlia finally found the courage to stand up to her sister, Rose, and confront her mother who was wrecked with worry about her youngest daughter. We declared she would be staying with me and my family in the castle as we were about to get married and she wouldn't have to be scared of getting hurt again.
The past few months she's stayed with us, Dahlia loves our castle as if she grew up in it. She loves to dress up In stunning dress and gowns like the beautiful angel she always has been and was happy to never have to dress in rags again. I told her I didn't care how she looked because her heart was attractive to me most of all. She and Sophie have gotten close as they spent time together like best friends and she would sometimes invite her childhood friend, Marguerite, to spend a day with her.
Something I've noticed whenever Marguerite is here, Emerson is hiding behind some wall and watching her like she is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. I remember when he danced with her at the masquerade ball a while ago and how he seemed completely enamored with her while they were close together. Looks like my younger brother has a huge crush on my fiancee's best friend.
"Em", I said, making him jump in surprise, "If you like her so much, why don't you go talk to her?" He looked at me then at Marguerite who was talking to Dahlia about her future wedding with me, and then he said, "I don't know. What if she doesn't like me as much or something?" He turned to me and continued with a hopeless look his face, "I've had many rejections in my life, but this one could be the end of me because I love her so much."
"What?", I looked behind him and fell silent to realize Marguerite had been listening to what Emerson had just said, and Emerson was petrified as he slowly turned and faced her with his face all white. "I-I, uh...", Em could barely speak as Marguerite was surprised at first and then smiled as she stepped closer to him and then kissed his cheek quickly, making him blush. "I think I love you, too, Prince Emerson", she stated with her cheeks all pink, "You're sweet and adorable and talented, I couldn't help but like you immediately."
They were both smiling then, and I noticed Dahlia creeping behind Marguerite and then give her a small push that caused Marguerite to stumble into Emerson and meet his lips with hers. They pulled away with red faces and wide eyes, while Dahlia held back laughter at the cute moment, and soon enough, they pulled each other close again and kiss passionately.
***
We got the most well sought-out designer in the kingdom to make Dahlia's wedding dress. She was excited to be marrying me and was shocked when she realized by being my wife, she'd become a princess. I told her she'd be the most beautiful and kind princess to ever exist in the kingdom and she said she was happy anyway to have me as her own and to be mine.
There was a certain situation where me and Dahlia went out for lunch the day before the wedding, and we somehow ran into her mother. "Mom? What are you doing here?", she asked her and then her mother said, "I was just here to meet with a client." "Oh, okay." "Dahlia, may I say something?" She seems surprised that her mother wanted to speak with her and then she turned her attention to her while I stayed close but not too close to give them privacy.
"Dahlia, I just wanted to say how sorry I am for being so indifferent toward you and letting your sisters treat you cruelly. There's a reason I took you out of school and had you homeschooled instead." Dahlia seemed confused and her mother stated, "I didn't know at the time it was your sisters who caused the scar on your eye, but I knew you weren't safe with them and I just wanted to keep you protected."
Dahlia was taken back by how her mother revealed the truth, "I thought you were ashamed of me being with my sisters in school and just kept me out of the public's eye to have anyone suspect I'm your daughter." Her mother shook her head and remarked, "That's possibly true, but I should have been more involved with you and treat you as equally as your sisters and I just want to say...I'm sorry."
Dahlia was crying by then and she hugged her mother tightly as they both shed tears. When she pulled away, her mother stated, "Anyway, I just wanted to say congratulations on your marriage with the Prince, who is not just a handsome lad, but a real gentleman." We both blushed and Dahlia told her mother after kissing her cheek, "Thank you, Mom. You'll be in my thoughts as well get married." Her mother nodded and then waved goodbye before walking away and leaving us.
I walked up to my lovely bride-to-be and held her hand carefully, "My princess, are you alright?" She looked up at me and smiled so brightly, it made my heart leap with joy to see her so happy. "Yes, Remington. I'm more than alright", she said to me as she wrapped her hands on the back of my neck, "I'm with you and there's nothing more I could ask for." I grinned at her and kissed her lips so sweetly, and I could feel her kiss me back as I held her closer to me and felt grateful to have her in my life as time stopped and everyone else vanished for one moment.
