Tooth and Claw (Catradora AU Fanfiction)

Chapter Eight: "Midnight."

Walking hand in hand, the two lovers walked. Out of the village and into the warm green grass. Adora stopped in place as her feet touched the grass. Catra looked back at her, and frowned.

"Something wrong?" Adora, without looking up from the ground smiled and talked in a near whisper.

"It's grass... I haven't felt grass in years." With a small laugh, she fell to her knees and felt the grass between her fingers. Catra smiled and walked down to her and felt the grass along with her. 

"It is nice isn't it?" Adora nodded.

"So, why did you bring me out here, Catra?" Catra's smile soon faded as she stood up. She turned away as the darkness of the night finally settled it. Adora put away her hood, and felt the cold night breeze against her face. Catra turned to face her again, and sighed.

"Adora, I brought you here cause I need to tell you something. Something important." Adora turned to Catra, and smiled.

"Sure, Catra." 

"But before I do, I want you to know that these past few weeks were very special to me, and I wouldn't change a thing," Catra started to blush as she went on. "I just want you to know that no matter what happens after this, I'll still care about you, even if you don't want to see me again."

Adora chirped a giggle. 

"Jeez Catra, what is it?" Just as Adora spoke, the clouds once covering the moon moved, and Catra removed her hood. She stood in place as the moonlight shinned on her tan skin. Her ears grew long and black in color. Adora's eyes widened. Catra's hair turn into fur, and her once white eyes changed into fully blue and yellow with slit pupils. A long tail grew from her backside, and stripes formed on her arms. She wasn't in her truest form, but it was enough for Adora to understand what she was trying to say.

"You... You were the werecat I met that night... That's how you knew I was a vampire..." Catra's ears flattened, and her tail wrapped around one of her legs. 

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, Adora." Adora's blue eyes burned and stung as hot tears dripped down her cheeks.

"W-why didn't you tell me the truth..?" Catra lowered her head. 

"I didn't cause of the plan..." 

"Plan? What plan!?" 

"THE PLAN TO TAKE OVER THE KINGDOM!" Catra gasped at her own words. She knew she said too much. 

"W-what are you talking about..?" Catra sighed.

"Me and the other cryptids had a plan of taking over Bright Moon. Since I knew you were a cryptid too, we decided to try and use that against you. We thought if the people knew you were a cryptid, they were trust us since the people wouldn't know who's a cryptid and who isn't since we look like humans most of the time." Adora couldn't believe what she was being told. It burned her heart. It killed her. 

"You were just using me all along!" 

"It was my job! I was only suppose to trick you but then-"

"You were gonna expose me! I bet you're the one who killed that man a few weeks back too!" Adora's anger got the best of her, and with one quick move, she pinned Catra down to a near by tree, the blue in her eyes was gone, and was replaced by glowing red anger in her eyes. It almost scared Catra. 

"I know I fucked up, but you have to trust me, Adora!" 

"TRUST YOU? WHY SHOULD I TRUST YOU!?" Adora's back soon grew large bat wings, and her fangs were sharp and ready, almost like she was about to bite Catra's head off. Catra looked straight into Adora's eyes, and whispered softly.

"Because, I love you. That's why I brought you here, I couldn't go through with it. Not after everything we went through. I just... couldn't do it." Adora's eyes soften a little bit, and her grip loosened on Catra. 

"I'm sorry..." Adora let go of Catra, but refused to look at her. 

"Adora... I..." 

"ADORA!" Both Catra and Adora looked to see Glimmer and Bow there. Both of them had looks of shock on their faces when they got a good look of both Adora and Catra in their true forms. Adora's hot tears soon came back as she fell to her knees. Glimmer and Bow ran up to Adora, and held her tight.

"Why didn't you tell us you were a vampire?" Glimmer asked with a tremble found in her voice.

"I-I thought you guys wouldn't expect me if you knew..." Glimmer held Adora tighter.

"Adora, you're our friend, no matter what you are. Right Bow?" Bow smiled at Adora and nodded his head. 

"Of course! No matter what!" Adora smiled as Glimmer wiped her tears away with her free hand. Glimmer looked up at Catra, and frowned. All of the friends let up from the hug and turned to Catra.

"What do we do with her? She killed people, Adora!" Adora sighed and walked up to Catra.

"Catra..."

"I'm sorry I lied to you..."

"Was any of what we went through real?" Catra nodded.

"What was real then?"

"My feelings for you, and that night in the uhh..." Catra looked over Adora's shoulder to Glimmer and Bow, and blushed,  "You know where." Adora blushed and turned back into her human form. Her blue eyes returned, and her wings gone.

"Do you mean that?" 

"Every word." The two shared a small smile but it was short lived.

"Adora? What do we do with her?" Catra frowned, and sighed. Walking past Adora, she walked up to Glimmer and knelt in front of her. But just as she was about to speak, another voice could be heard.

"GLIMMER, ADORA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING AROUND THAT BEAST!" Everyone turned to Queen Angella, and King Micah standing there with their guards with weapons at ready. Adora's heart sank.

"Guards, take the cat girl away! Tomorrow, we punish her." The guards grabbed hold of Catra, and started to drag her. 

"Hey! Get your hands off of me!" Catra yelled. Adora ran over to Angella, and grabbed her arm gently.

"What are they gonna do to her?" Angella without breaking eye content with Catra spoke up.

"We are going to charge her with the crimes she had committed, and it will be up to the people to decide her fate." Adora knew what that meant... It meant it the guillotine. Adora runs off down the grassy hill to try and catch up with the guards holding Catra, but Micah grabbed her first.

"CATRA!" She called. Catra looked back the best she could to Adora.

"I SWEAR, I'LL GET YOU OUT OF THIS!"
