"Tokyo, we protect it with our lives. This is our home, not the nasty sirens that walk the streets. We are strong enough to fight back, so I have decided to make a league of assassins to kill the creatures that are taking the lives of the precious people of Tokyo. They want to take our powers to make them stronger. Those nasty power seekers hide in plain sight. This has gone on for 5 years to long." Our mayor yells from the stage he stands on "The year of 2055 will be different. A new start, a safer home for our children. So join me and save our future!"

I cling to my mothers arm as we get into a long line of people running all the way along the roads this speech was held at. I look around at all the screens with the long line being shown.
"A live broadcast," I think to myself
I get pushed into the line closer to the front by my mother.
"But momma, i don't want to be an assassin when I get old" I whine as she pushes me along.

"Sweetly," she says as she picks me up "I know, I know, but I want you to be able to protect yourself and others from the sirens."

I look at her and I look away and I bury my face in her shoulder. I give up on arguing, there's no point.
About thirty minutes later I am asleep on my mothers shoulder.
"Vi, wake up. I need you to hold out your hand for registration." She says to me

I wake up slowly and lazily rub my eyes as my mother sets me down.

I hold out my hand for the lady sitting at the table. She grabs my hand. I flinch.
She grabs a needle out of a small box and wipes it off with a disinfectant wipe then wipes my finger with a different wipe. And she pricks my finger quickly. It didn't hurt to bad but i still flinched. The lady presses my finger against a box. The dot of blood gets sucked into the box. Then she puts in carefully in a bin next to her. Then she picks up a small cylinder off the ground. She flipped my hand around.
"Name?" She asks
"Violet Milo," i say

"Miss Violet what's your powers?" The lady asks

"Um... I can catch and manipulate fire and I can move things with my mind I guess." I say hesitantly

"Telekinesis?" The lady asks impatiently

"Yes," my mother interrupts

She types something into the cylinder and grabs my hand again. She presses the thing into my hand. A stinging sensation runs along my hand. She lifts up the cylinder and the smell of burning skin runs up my nose. It was a lotus flower burnt permanently into my skin. It was beautiful.

"Great, your in the system." The lady says

My mom picks me up and walks away from the table. She puts me down and I hold her hand while we walk to our apartment.
I get kicked by a man walking the other way and I fall to the ground. I lose my mother in the crowd. Panic, panic spread through my body like a tsunami. I start running around frantically trying to find her. I look in all directions. I don't pay attention to where I am going so I run into the back on a boy. I fall to the ground and he doesn't move. He turns around to look at me.

"Hello there, I'm liam." He says holding out his hand to help me up. I take the boys hand.

"V-violet" i say trembling.
I feel a hand grip my shoulder. I turn to see my mother. I grab her desperately. I hug her for a long time. A wave of relief runs over me.

"Thank you Liam," I say to the boy

He nods at me.
"Cya around violet" he says

My mother picks me up and this time I don't think she's going to put me down this time. I look forward at the huge crowd.
Hundreds of thousands of people waiting to sign up. Of all ages. All of them were put in lines. 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, etc. I fell in the 5-8 category, I'm five years old and i will have to wait to become an assassin. But i don't mind waiting.

——————-30 minutes later———————

I lay in the couch in my apartment. My mother sitting with me playing with my hair.

"System? Momma he lady said system. What did she mean?" I ask

"She was saying that you are eligible to be an assassin. You can go to the academy of assassins with you come of age." She says back

"Oh." I say

We watch tv for about twenty minutes.
"Me and my mother are each other best friends. We are the only people left in our family, we both felt it was wrong to make friends in this city. So we became closer by the years.
I was calm for a child, more so adult than most adults. I was to scared of being a child so I didn't. I didn't want to be hurt physically or mentally anymore than my father had done.
My mother was just the same. Calm and collected. She was hard to get angry but when she was she would lose control of her power as well. That happened once before, when she figured out that my dad was a siren. She almost destroyed Tokyo.
Me and my mother are very powerful even though my power have not fully developed I'm still as strong as a middle aged adult. My mother is strong enough to destroy a city so that must tell you a bit of what she is capable of. We have the same powers. Well fire. I get the telekinesis from my dad. I am saying this because it helps me except myself as a person" I think as I fade to sleep.

——————10 years later————————

"Violet Milo," Rey Williams says.
I stand and walk up the stairs of the stage, up to our mayor.
"Welcome to training at Kota academy" he says

I hold out my had with the lotus flower on it. He shakes it, and i go sit in the last of the ten chairs behind him.

"These ten teenagers are the future of the assassins." He says to the camera and to the people in the crowds.

"He is speaking to every person in Tokyo." I think to myself.
He turns to us.

"Welcome tot he system!" He says excitedly
