In Japan, there is a fabled mountain called Mount Kumotori. It borders on Tokyo and is very lush with fauna and wildlife. It's famous for being the highest mountain in Japan. However, to a lesser population called Demon Slayers, the mountain is famous for a very different reason. It is said to hold the Temple of the Silver Slayer at the very top of the mountain. Many have tried to reach the temple but an obstacle lies in the way. Due to the humidity and high altitude, a very thick fog barrier believe to be caused by the temple, prevents people from entering. The Silver slayer was one of the original demon slayers training under the one who developed the first breathing technique. The Silver Slayer was a man of good heart and great pride in helping others. Many mosaic pieces depicted him in sliver plate armor not conventionally used by the Japanese.
Armor of that kind was considered a detriment especially when fighting demons due to the limited movement and the weight with the trade-off of not being able to be injured with ease. However, the Silver Slayer appeared to have worked the limitations giving him incredible dexterity and strength. He wielded a straight silver blade with a dark black crossguard, the handle was made of warm brown oak wood in a spiral pattern. The pommel is golden with a quartz rock in the center. His movements were precise and elegant. But the power behind them was unmatched. The humans held the advantage with the Silver Slayer leading them, but one day, he vanished.
The official report is that he had fallen ill to sickness and retreated to his temple. That's when the fog settled over the mountain and everyone who entered was lost. At the base of the mountain, a small village known as Komito commissioned a stone statue of the Silver Slayer. It turned into a shrine and people come far and wide to pray for the return of the hero. If you ask the elders of the village, "What happened to the Silver Slayer?" They will tell you that he retired due to old age, but his sword was placed in a stone pedestal on a large stone platform at the peak of the mountain and there it sits facing the rising sun, waiting for a new champion to arrive and take up the role of the hero, a new Silver Slayer.
As if the space in the air split apart, a person fell out of nothing. He landed on the stone and began to be pulled by an invisible force. He let out cries of pain as he began to crawl forward resisting the force. His body was tearing itself apart at the molecular level, and painfully piecing itself back together. He yelled and cried as he slowly crawled forward. He reached up and forward. Something solid brushed his fingertips. He yelled loudly as he reached out and grabbed it with all his strength.
He felt it in his hand, a wooden pole. He slowly began to feel the pain go away. He gasped and began to cry. He felt pain no longer and he wept, having been freed from his prison. He used his free hand to wipe his face. He stood up and looked at what he had grabbed with his right hand. It was a sword that had been placed on a stone pedestal. He then looked to his left to see a great view of a large area of land as well as a view of a rising sun.
He looked towards the sword. He was hesitant to let go. He contemplated how this sword freed him. "Hmmm? Oh, hoo. How interesting." He perked up at hearing the ghostly voice behind him. He turned and looked, his face formed one of awe. Behind him, a couple of yards away stood a figure a foot taller than him in silver plate armor. The figure was semi-transparent and had a blue aura about them, "So you are the one that awakened me."
He spoke, "I just touched this sword though." The ghost responded, "Yes, you did. And that is my sword, my soul is bound to it, and it appears that yours is now bound to it as well." He looked back at the sword. He slowly let go of it. He looked back towards the figure as they questioned him, "What is your name?" He tried to remember, but it was impossible to do so, "I don't know."
"You don't remember your name?"
"No, I can't. I can't even remember anything."
"Mmmm... Hmmmmm... How intriguing. May I ask, what is that around your neck?"
