Wattpad is so fucking stupid and I can't handle it.

Listen, I'm fucking prehistoric. I have been on Wattpad for a loooooooooooong time. I've been on Wattpad for so long, I remember lying about my age to make my first Wattpad account. I remember Wattpad having THIS icon.

I've been here a while. I wrote original stories on at least two now-defunct accounts, I had an old fanfiction account, then I "graduated" to Archive of Our Own, and I came back here when I accepted that I like OC fanfic and fell back down the rabbit hole. I still use and write on Ao3, but that's for my non-OC fics that I actually put effort into so we don't talk about that.

The point is, I grew up with Wattpad.

And I remember when Premium wasn't a thing, when paid stories weren't a thing, hell, I remember when ADS weren't a thing on this site. I was here, dare I say it before the bad boy trend took over. 

I was on Wattpad before I knew I was a fucking lesbian for fuck's sake, I've been here so long.

So, so long. Please free me.

The point is, I remember the good old days where you didn't have to wait through ads for chapters. I remember when we rioted over ads just being introduced between chapters that you could easily just swipe up away from. God, there was so much weird old drama back then. Somehow, I oddly miss it.

So now there's """"premium""" stories????? Bitch, please. 

Look, I'll say it. If you want to make money off of Wattpad, you shouldn't be on Wattpad.

The whole point of Wattpad was free stories written by amateur writers for fun. Like, don't monetize that shit. I get it, Wattpad has to make money and all that, but come the fuck on.

As a prolific Tumblr user, I refuse to let websites profit off of me. I'd much rather they lose money because of me.

And I've read the free chapters of some premium stories. And they ain't good, sis. They're like, typical Wattpad quality. Some are worse. Like, way worse. Idk what Wattpad's vetting system for premium books is, but it's shit, I can tell you that.

So why the fuck would I want to pay? Listen, Wattpad is garbage, and I'm okay with that. In fact, I enjoy it. But I am not paying to go dumpster diving, a'ight?

The ads, I could almost understand. And the ads you chose to watch for writers to get paid? Also kind of understandable. Once again, I don't think writers should make money through Wattpad because that's not the point of Wattpad, but whatever.

But I ain't paying for any of this premium shit. Different coloured themes and no ads? Fucking shut up, man. Get over yourself. I can get good free books from a library, and bad free books from Wattpad and that's exactly how I like it. Don't give your writers inflated senses of ego or worse make the ones who aren't making money feel bad, just to make some extra money. 

Wattpad is trash and I love it. The only semi-decent stories are fanfiction, which writers can't make money off of by their nature. Stop the fucking microtransactions. 

Eat the rich, and fuck cooperations.
