Approximately an hour had passed by when there was loud banging on the door awakening the exhausted man on the couch, while simultaneously startling the light brown skin man who was cooking. Oliver looked over at Samuel who had panic in his dark cyan eyes the taller man came over to Sam bending down in front of him catching his panicked gaze. Warm hazel eyes meeting the cyan Oliver spoke with a softened tone, as if he was trying not to frighten him," you messed up this time didn't you Sam." A sorrowful look swam over the shorter male's gaze while Oliver let out a sigh when another bang hit the door as a response Oliver shouted, glaring at the door" give me a damn moment already I'm trying to cook!" Turning his gaze back to Sam he spoke softly once again" just rest don't worry I'll handle this."
Samuel let out a sigh not really being a talkative person he always seemed to feel bad for sitting there in silence like he was now, but this however made Oliver smile at him. Samuel reached out snatching Oliver's arm before he could go to the door which turned the smile into a worried frown. Sam said, after closing his eyes" Ollie doesn't do anything stupid I'd rather not get you in any more trouble than possible." Oliver smiled once again, tilting his head slightly while doing so, as he stated:" Samuel you know for a fact if something was going to happen then no matter what I do I'll be involved." The dishwater blonde haired male looked down until Oliver raised his head enough for them to make eye contact as he spoke softly" however I can take care of myself old friend." With that, the dark brown-haired male turned away and walked over the door saying" one moment please I'm almost there." Oliver opened the door while Samuel covered his head with the blanket laying on top of him leaving only enough of a gap to see what was going on. On the other side of the door stood a long blonde-haired, tan-skinned, green-eyed girl who looked extremely worried surprise fell upon both male's faces.
The female asked, sounding slightly frantic" Oliver is Samuel here? Oh God please tell me he's not here, Oliver I beg of you don't tell me he's here." Samuel lifted his head as the woman turned her frantic gaze towards him before saying" Samuel oh God please leave some men arrived you need to go or hide." Samuel smiled sadly at her before he stated, his eyes had started to droop again" sorry Flora, but for once I wouldn't be able to make it more than a yard, or so, away from town before collapsing. I'm surprised how persistent they are though, however, I shouldn't be to surprise after all I did take something their master's hold dear." Oliver let out a sigh shaking his head in exasperation while coming to the short man's side staring down at him with a disapproving look. Sam looked sheepishly up at Oliver before the taller male said:" Flora darling do this fool a favor and keep those people away for at least ten minutes." Flora chuckled a bit walking out of the room as she replied:" very well Ollie I'll make sure they don't get here too early, just do this town a favor and keep that idiot from being seen." Samuel looked annoyed at the retreating female only to yelp as he was picked up thrown over Oliver's shoulder.
Oliver said, his tone annoyed" be quiet already I don't care what happens to me, but you have given this village hope that they can survive through the years to come free of starvation and poverty. They can't lose you because of some pissed off guards I'll be fine, though you, on the other hand, are too exhausted to do much more than speak where you lie." He moved a throw rug revealing a door underneath before opening it with his free hand only to then drop the smaller man into the crawl space. Samuel looked up at the man reaching out towards him while all Oliver did was smile saying" stay safe old friend, and for once be completely quiet rather than protesting." Sam had a pleading look while Oliver shut the door moving the rug back over it a minute later the door flew open revealing the guards that had chased down Samuel. Oliver was in the kitchen cooking as he looked around the corner saying, sounding innocent nothing giving away any of the recent events" oh hello there. You know you could have knocked-" he paused looking as if he was thinking as he continued "-or did I just not hear you knock. Oh well, so how can I help you fine gentlemen this evening any of you thirsty?"
The lead guard glared at Oliver as he spoke, more like demanded," you should know where the criminal Samuel Reeds went for your house is on the edge of the village. Everyone else claims he came this way so tell me sir which way did that criminal go or did he even leave this blasted village." There was silence before Oliver said," I didn't manage to see exactly which way he went, but I did see that he took off towards the forest not far from here." The guards gave wary looks to the man while underneath the floors Samuel was silently panicking hoping his friend wouldn't be found out. His vision slowly grew darker as slumber dragged him down to its depths though before he completely blacked out he heard footsteps rush out of the building.
Oliver calmly shut the door before rushing to see if his friend was alright throwing the rug aside he opened the door revealing the slumbering form that laid below it. He laughed a bit bending down to pick the sleeping man up only to put him down on the couch covering him up with a blanket. He asked, shaking his head before looking at the silver cylinder that had fallen on the floor" what is in this that makes you so protective over this thing?" He opened it before pulling out the rolled-up map unraveling it his eyes widened in shock seeing what it lead to. He looked down at the man as he said, turning his gaze back to the map" you're really in some trouble to steal this from royals then go after it yourself. I don't know if you're either stupid for doing this, to begin with, or brave enough to risk your life for us when all we can do is provide you with little food and shelter." His gaze softened as he looked at Samuel who had curled up in his sleep shivering a bit he said:" you're not doing this alone, not this time." He finished cooking, ate, then went to bed himself leaving a plate in the fridge for the nosy little thief that slept peacefully with no care in the world.
